Water transfer from river to trailer

Not sure how to word this but has anyone got any ideas on transferring water from a creek to there trailer. I have a Jayco Eagle outback and I'm thinking of running a second tank just for creek water to shower with and wash up and leave the factory tank for clean water
Any thoughts on this idea would be appreciated

Aldi had drill powered water pumps recently there might be some left, chuck it in your cordless and off you go

I have  seen this done , have a good volume 12v pump around 24 lpm    .the pump goes near the water ,hose to intake must have a filter to protect the pump ,  mount fliter 30cm under  piece of foam (may have to weigh filter down ) hose than to inlet (length will vary depending  how close to the water you can get with the pump ) pump outlet hose  than to tank .  note  large volume pump this is so it will push water up hill if required

This is my set up.

I use this nearly every time I go camping, running water at the trailer.




I have a 30m hose with a twin flex 6mm cable attached every 0.5 m along the hose, Stand pipe attached to a star picket with a home made timer, pump and suction line.

Great set up Duggie. A guy we sometimes camp near has an almost identical setup he's been fine tuning.

17lpm ebay 12v pump mounted in a cheap plastic toolbox with a 5m suction hose and 3X 10m hoses with connectors for varying length.  First time he had a cheap SCA jump starter pack to power it.
Next year he also had 30m of 8b&s cable with Anderson plugs every 10m.

I have a 360 GPH bilge pump designed for a boat bilge, reduced the outlet from 3/4 to 1/2" hose. It plugs into back of camper and fills my tank. If not near creek i can use it to pump out of 20 litre bucket.

It draws bugger all amps, and keeps the kids busy while I have a beer and supervise.

Nothing wrong with using a bucket, but the places that I go camping/fishing at have very large Crocodiles residing in the same water hole.  :'( :'(

That was my inspiration to come up with my pump and hose combination.

I'm trying to avoid using a bucket too - last two times I have tried getting water from a slippery steep bank I ended up in the bloody drink :)

I have a sand spear stainless filter thingy hanging off a float with hose connected to a sureflow pressure pump. I use the kids 20amp/hr battery with small solar panel. Water available all day.

Do you have a pressure pump in the jay I. If so you can easily set up a visiflow system like Kimberley have in their campers. Just requires a few taps and a hose to head out to the water hole.
I have set this up on my mates conqueror so it can easily be done.

I often wondered about the configuration to set something like this up.
So if I've got this right without drawing a picture you'd nee two T JUNCTIONS with inbuilt taps.
One to bipass the flow from the tank to the external hose barb on the inlet side of the pump and one to bypass the outlet from the tap line to the tank....
Sound about right?

For campers going somewhere with a good drop in river height, check out RAM pumps on YouTube. Fantastic things...no 12V, no backbreaking work. Just pumps.
