So with the Netflix thread happening, and me not happy with the 200gig plan Im on without Netflix, or anything (gaming and downloadin movies, building puters for people runnin updates etc), what plans are good value over 500gig and speeds are people actually getting?

Just ran speedtest and I'm currently getting 1/2 walking pace of a caterpillar on Optus cable at moment, and I'm not due to be throttled for another day or 2..

So - what is good now... ADSL2 isn't an option as there are no ports available and haven't been for 3 years in our area

Mate got onto NBN this week and is ropable with the speeds slower than he had before.. LMAO!

Look at iiNet if going to get Netflix - free downloads so it doesn't come off your monthly downloads. Not sure about their speeds etc.....I can't get ADSL 2.  :o

there might be now with everyone going NBN but for years I tried getting ADSL2 and got laughed at.... And they weren't spending $$ to upgrade due to the NBN....

IINet seems to have a common theme... suppose I'll lose the email addy I've had for 14yrs... :(

The pirates are all bitching on Whirlpool that Netflix has killed their torrent speeds while iinet Netflix junkies are getting buffered for the same reason. Seems a surge in streaming demand via Netflix plus general interest in all the providers they invoked, has caught ISPs with their pants down like the initial smartphone takeup did with mobile.
There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.

and I thought we were at the end of the exchange with our Shit speeds - nowhere near it :(

Unlimited for $90 :)

Although these "fair usage policies" are bullShit..

"The Fair Go Policy ensures that all our customers can access our services, and do not use our services in a manner that we consider 'unreasonable' or 'unacceptable',"

the wording "we consider" kills me a bit...

That might explain slower speeds on internode I've been experiencing. I'm on 100 nbn plan & at times lucky to get 25mbs

And an absolutely crap copper network is a big contributor.  The infrastructure is appalling in Australia.  Don't hold out much hope for the NBN either

Have a read of this:

Load of sh!te.
my torrent speeds have not altered at all.
They are trying to push sheep.

We are in Canberra and have VDSL2 (download speed of about 40mbs had 50 at last address). I don't think it is anywhere else. But iinet are offering 1000G for $80 a month. In saying that they don't meter Netflix.
Just dropped Telstra for my mobile. I got a better deal from iinet for half the price.

In the last month or so my speed has dropped of, up loading is now so slow, and I have adsl 2+  with a 1000gig plan. I am thinking I might ring Telstra and see if I can get an answer from them. >:(

We are on a 200Gb plan with Telstra, they sent me a text message two weeks ago telling me that they have upgraded our package to 500Gb for no extra cost.  I was pretty pleased with that as we are looking at signing up to Netflixstanpresto soon.
The Bear made me do it!!

That's slower than our Bigpond cable......not much slower, though.

Geez, I don't think I would last long on that.
Today I d/l Twin peaks, that came in just under 12 GB.

BUT, I recall when i first got cable, somewhere about 2001, we only had 3gb a month, but the internet was simpler then, less adds, and the sites i visited then were mainly text only.
