Any TV gurus here at all?
We have 3 tellys in our house, all the same brand (Panasonic). The bigger TV in our lounge room isn't receiving the 7 channels (7, 71, 72, 73 & 74) properly since the big hail storm belted us here last week. The channels say bad signal as the screen breaks up, I've tried auto retuning it several times but made no differance. The other 2 tv's run through the same antennae and have perfect picture and signal strength (this telly has bad signal strength when you check it on the menu) so doubting the antennae moved in the storm but it may have I guess.
Any ideas what the issue may be at all? That telly may have been on during the storm I don't recall, so am wondering if something could have happened to it internally during the storm maybe also?

Hi mal. Can you take the sus tv to the either of the rooms that are working and try that antenna point.

So no Sesame Street for a while?

Check antenna it may have been damaged, depending on how splitters are
setup TV up playing probably on a down stream splitter and getting a lower level signal.

Will try and get on roof tomorrow arvo to check antennae if I get a chance, will also have a look at the splitter set up also as I don't recall which TV gets cable from where. If I don't see any problems I'll try switching the tv's around and see if the issue is just at that TV point or not
Cheers

hey rumpig,

Mate I am a great fan of keeping it simples. First thing I would check is the cable between the tv and the wall. Grab one that is wroking from the other rooms.

Also, while you are at it, check the connections on both the tv and the wall, make sure they are ok when pushing the cable in (check its a tight fit). wiggle the cable at both ends and see if the signal changes.

I know bugger all about tellies....but I have 3 of them and one booster box. If the booster box is unplugged (or damaged by lightning) then it can affect reception.

Good luck.

Yea keep it simple as suggested,  maybe there's an antena booster that's come adrift too

aussieducker

If the other TVs run thru the same antenna and they are working I would assume antenna and booster power supply ok. need to see if it's the cabling between splitter and wall point, wall point and tv (try another lead) or the tv itself (try another tv)

I would reset your channels again doing it manually for those stations you mentioned, as I had the same problem. cheers Ron.

Not necessarily digital TV's either work or don't work depending on the signal strength, the first TV's may be
be on a splitter and are receiving marginal signal but enough for them to work, third TV may be on a second
splitter feed from the first, the additional 3db loss is enough to stop it receiving the channel.

Could also be TV has a local setting set whereas other TV's are set for distance but as TV did work before storm
but not after I'm assuming no one has changed any settings or cords etc just TV stopped working on that channel.

Scrambled, generally means low signal strength, try checking antenna, connections etc, cheap signal strength
meters can also be purchased at Jaycar etc but they will only give you an idea as to the signal strength.

Only trying to suggest easy checks to narrow fault down
Im aware of signal loss and digital tv symptons but it was all working up to a week ago.

not sure if it makes a differance to peoples thoughts on the problem or not..... but checking through the Menu on the 3 telly's the signal strength and quality of signal on the other 2 telly's that work fine reads 10 out 10 on everything, but on the telly that is playing up the signal strength is sitting constantly on 8 out of 10 on the channels not broadcasting properly, but the quality reading keeps jumping all over the place....goes down to 1 out 10 then jumps up to 8 or 10 out of ten then back to 4 or 1 then back up to 8 or 9 or 10 then down again etc etc. The other channels that broadcast fine on that telly all pretty much read good for signal and quality strength (10 out of 10's). Channel 44 which is the cummunity tv station is the only one on both tellys that has a bad / lower signal strength (6 on the good tv's and 4 on the one playing up) but the quality reading is 10 out of 10 on all the tv's and broadcasts fine on all of them.
Can't get on the roof to check out the antennae as it's wet and storms about at the moment, looking from the ground it appears to be ok with no obvious damage i can see (but closer inspection could be different). Haven't followed the line of the splitter set up yet, will do that abit later though.

i already said to her the other day maybe we need to replace it with a bigger one...lol....but the problem is the room is to small to go any bigger then what we have at the moment (would be like sitting in the front row at the movie theatre all the time), so that idea didn't get a run
