Annex matting recommendations
« on: October 13, 2014, 09:17:28 PM »

Can anyone recommend the best annex matting to use?

Checking out the local stores there are shade cloth tarps that are not the best quality.

and also oztrail annex mats that look ok but do not have eyes to peg down.

What do you find to be the best?

Thanks.

Andy

Cgear Multimat  http://www.cgear.com.au/rec_product.html

Been mentioned on here 1000's of times.  Wouldn't be without ours.  And they have eyelets all the way around (d rings actually)

And another vote for the CGear mat, and Autoelecau (he's on  here) on Ebay is the cheapest I've found.

given the price of the cgear matting (no disagreement about quality), we ended up with this:

cheap and works a treat.

Thanks for all the replies I'll check them out!

The Escapinoutdoors mat looks similar to the OZtrail ones I saw.  Do they have eyes for pegging down and do they need it?

The CGear mat looks like knitted shade cloth.  Does anyone use shade cloth from the roll at Bunnings etc?  The shade cloth tarps that I saw were stitched cloth and would not be as durable nor allow dirt to fall through as easily.

Thanks

Andy

Hey guys, sorry to drag this up again, but how is the cgear for drainage? Tossing up whether to buy it to fit the awning exactly or extend beyond a little which will obviously mean more water. Cheers.

CGear without a doubt.

If you haven't taken the time to read up on it, a big advantage of it is that any sand or soil deposited on top of the mat passes through and does not come back up ... Same thing as used for sand abatement matting for armed forces helipad landing sites.

Has eyelets (strong!) around all the edges, and doubles as an excellent shade sail or wind break. The stuff is super tuff.

The stuff works. Excellent!

... Drainage ? Excellent !!!

We have both the Oztrail and CGear mats. The CGear is much better quality, but you pay for it.

We don't bother with either any more. Extra to cart, and extra work setting up, packing up, and sweeping up......
