Benched the last bit of firewood I had left at home. Just need to split the bigger stuff and that should see out this firewood season. With the first brown snake sighting on the weekend for the spring might be a good idea to get it all tidied up. Bastards those snakes.

fixed it for you. Plus last time I went speewa brought the new Kubi to move the snakes on. Very helpful. I think He figured they'd get me on the ground before thinking of slithering up the tractor to get Him.

I was thinking of getting my own log splitter, but the one I usually hire is brilliant and are about $5k new. Minister for finance won't approve that!

We built this one in 1996, it's on it second engine and have replaced a few hoses in that time. They make easy work of it.

I went to buy a home made tractor mounted one at a clearing sale months ago. It went for $1500, could by a new one for that....

I usually just get a stockpile and hire a splitter, but I mostly just cut stuff that I can bench and put straight in the fire.

What does everyone use?
I use a Stihl MS660 and MS310 for wood cutting, and an MS170 for Trimming and pruning. The splitter is a 30T splitter and works a dream, whhy one would break your back splitting I dont know. Big bits sometimes split by cutting with chainsaw then bash and lift onto splitter.The bloke cutting is my mate, but shows the size we cut normally.

We get our own wood. Although next year we are going to use a larger trailer, our little box trailer turns the springs inside out with less than a tonne on it.

Its hard work for a fat old fart like me ;)

I am now the proud owner of a new 6x4 trailer with 18 inch sides. Complete with tool box, spare tyre, jockey wheel, extra long drawbar, new LT tyres on Ford rims :'(. Purchased from Europe trailers. Now to find some wood to cut.

What was a rough cost Fuji, need something similar for my place for wood and the likes as well
