just bought an Evacool rv25
« on: July 05, 2014, 10:13:07 PM »
.......well, i was really wanting another Engel but could not justify the outlay. The reason being, we already have a 40 lt Engel in the back as our main fridge when camping without the Camper(which has a 57 lt fridge/freezer).
The Evacool is going on the false floor so we can reach for drinks and will only be a drinks fridge.
Picked it up for $399 plus $50 for transit bag from Rays.
Got it home and was quite impressed with the cool down time...10 mins to get to -2 on the turbo mode.
A little more noisy than the Engel when cycling but I wont be sleeping with it :)
Hoping it will perform well on the Simpson in October.

Have seen these in bcf and wondered how they would go, what sort of warranty.

Hi mate.

I bought the RV35 around new year. Bcf special with bag for $499.
Works great. Not sure if it's loud or not. Haven't had anything to compare it to.
SWMBO reckons we should have got one ten years ago.
For some reason she doesn't like watery marg and swimming cheese slices ;D. Go figure.

The cig plug can work itself loose and it also blew the fuse in the plug within a week. Quick trip to Jaycar ;D. Love that place.
Has been all good for the past 6 months.
I bought another 12v cig cord from bcf for $25, saved the original for warranty purposes, and put an anderson plug on the new one.
Doesn't work loose now :D

The fridge has run non stop since we bought it. On 12 volt. Trips in the camper and it is also the downstairs beer fridge.
I have an 8B&S extension cord from the camper to the fridge with the Ctek in the camper keeping the batteries charged.
Everything gets a workout. And when the sun comes back over to that side of the house I'll hook up the solar panels and turn off the charger.

Get the 2 baskets for the fridge. A lot easier then getting everything out then putting it back again.

So far, so good.
