G'day from Cairns
« on: May 26, 2014, 05:33:01 PM »
Hi all,

Have been reading and dreaming for some time and finally joined. I hail from sunny Cairns and have lived here for a few years. Previously lived in WA and grew up in SE Qld. Am about to purchase a camper to slot behind my 100 series cruiser. So far I have bought my search down to two Campo's and am just waiting on a friend to inspect another one tomorrow arvo. I inadvertently pointed my Mother to buy a Campo a year or so ago without knowing anything about them and so far she is wrapped in hers (93 model). I am looking at a late nineties version as that is all my budget stretches to at this time. I love the concept of them and knowing the early ones (made in Yatala) seem to be very well made and should last the distance. My only concern is the AL-KO independent suspension, but lots of people have used with no dramas. Can anyone tell me what year they started putting the independent susp on the trailers ?? Also, what year did they convert to coils ??

Hope to meet some of you along the way and will post pics of my trailer and tug as soon as I get it !!!!

Why yes we are spoilt here !!! With exception of the Cairns tax we pay on everthing  >:D

I am planning a sneaky week up at Princess Charlotte bay in August. Went to the tip in 2012 and had a blast, but it is far too crowded for my liking and getting more and more expensive every year too....

m8, a G'day back to you from a Victorian that has had a failed attempt, trying to live in Cairns.  Maybe in a year or so I might be more lucky.

It has been around a awhile, but there is not enough of the original vehicle to call it old. ;D
