Any Tom Tom Users- trouble getting satellites?
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:14:44 PM »
my unit struggles to locate satellites.
First happened after an update sometime ago (about 6-8 mths) co-incidence?
After a update it then works OK but it does it drop out frequently and then after a couple of days it can't find satellites at all.
We bought the unit not all that long ago (2012) and LOVE IT
but this satellite thing is really frustrating
I've re-booted, re-set, everything... no good.
Anyone else had this?
Could you fix it?
If not did you switch brands?
What brand????

Used to use Tom Tom a lot - globally - never had any problems.

Have not used in about 12 months, as I have now a free nav app on my mobile and Hema for offroad. If in town I also sometimes use Google maps..

Cheers

I have had a Tom Tom live 850 for about 3 years now.
Great GPS easy to use and great functions but mine froze
totally after 2 years but i got a new one under extended
Warranty.I have the same problems as you from time to time.
Mine has been good for about 6 months now but started
playing up this week.Normally once i update mine it comes good again for
some timent is that i got lifetime maps. Also i find it a pain to update.
It nearly always takes a couple of times to update.Good thing about the
replacement is that i got lifetime map update with the new Gps.

well still working, that 2nd re-boot might have done it
I love the Tom Tom because it has a really good speed alert system
Hey Footloose, the reboot is .... hold the start button down till you hear the drumbeats (about 30 secs)
try that

There is a hard hard reset you couldtry if you look in the bottom of the unit there is a little hole. Push a paperclip in there is it resets the whole thing back to factory

Hi Wilsurf
I have a Tom Tom Via model and there's no hole so the 30 sec hold on the start button is all there is.
Still working though at day 3 so it's probably fixed
