Willow Tree to Merriwa
« on: May 04, 2014, 08:44:23 PM »
I'd like to drive tomorrow on the Willow Tree to Merriwa Rd but SWMBO, who's following in her Peugeot 308, won't countenance driving it on a dirt road.  My road maps, show a fair section of gravel.

Can anyone advise if the road has now been sealed?

Thanks

  • If in doubt, grab a handful of 2nd gear.

Mate last drove it about 4years ago? Yep your map was right there was a fair run of dirt, nothing that a sedan wouldn't do easy though.

Looked on google earth and it is dated feb this year, and it shows a lot of dirt...

Best option if you don't want dirt is to go down to Scone and across to Merriwa..

Drove Scone to Merriwa today.  Lovely and scenic drive.

Sounds good mate, we lived in Scone for several years, a really pretty part of the Hunter!

Topndr I've driven that road a 1000 times in the last 2 years. It is mainly gravel and is a goat track. The locals call it the back road and drive it everyday in all manner of vehicles. I drive it in a work sedan so I don't care what happens to it but I wouldn't drive my own car if it didn't have enough ground clearance. The pug will get wrecked.
