Smelly Tent

Not sure what section this should be in but here goes.

G'day guys,  So we went on a trip 2 weeks ago and my work schedule has dictated that I have just this afternoon set up the tent in the yard to air out and prepare for a trip next weekend.   

Upon opening the travel cover we were greeted by the most God awful smell u he ever smelt.  It would appear that a frog/toad has crawled into one of the folded up annexe walls on our last trip and promptly expired. 

It has left no visible stains but the stench has penetrated the entire camper.  I've got the tent set up on the yard to air out.

Does anybody have a secret recipe for dealing with smelly canvas??  It is dead set horrible at the moment

That's what the wife reckons but I'm a bit wary of putting anything soapy or smelly on the canvas

I have no idea but your situation gave me a good laugh! Bloody frogs!!!

The missus uses vinegar on everything, just dilutes it as necessary.

test on a small patch first = not that i have tried but can see it working is diluted eucalyptus oil give the entire tent and trailer a good scrub then hit the canvas with water proofing

What do you dilute Eucalyptus with, I thought it floated on water?

Thanks for the replies guys. A good old airing out in the perfect weather of the weekend seems to have done the trick.  Going camping on the weekend so it'll get soaked with campfire smell then witch should clear out any remains.

Covering a stink with a not so bad smell.
Sometimes it works, Good Luck.

I'd have thought, some very soft soap, Lux Flakes, or velvet bar soap, Powdered down with a grater.

Or Eucy wool  wash, and just give it a wash in the affected area.  There should be a stain.
Otherwise the "JUICES" from 'poor Fredo' will not do the canvas any good.
Make sure you thoroughly wet the area first, and rinse out the soap really well.
You shouldn't need a lot of soap in warm water, depend on how large the frog was.
Hope it wasn't a CANE TOAD.

Dry it out and reproof the Canvas after.
Consult a specialist to find out about the reproofing products.
Scotch-guard 'might' be OK. I'm only saying, as a short term though. 
It does come out faster than a lot of other things. 
Those other things can be diluted PVA Glue as well.

with warm water - been using it for years in a spray applicator magic stuff
