Had the pleasure of doing a lube service on a phase 3 a couple of years ago. Couldn't believe it when he through me the keys and said he would be back a couple of hours later. As he walked out he told me to make sure I test drove it afterwards, and that I did ;)

My uncle owned one and I remember going for spins in it when I was young. It later got written off parked outside a pub when a pissed women slammed into it :) What a car

When I got married we had as our wedding cars an XY GT and a Phase III (that was still on it's original aquajet tyres!). I was driving an XW GT replica at the time and this made up the 3rd wedding car - it had a standard 302 Winsdor that I thought went alright but after being in the Phase III it felt like a tame little Corolla. My God it threw you into the seat! Couldn't get the grin off my face.

....... My God it threw you into the seat!........

A 351 Cleveland with a big holley, open port, closed chamber heads, and 11:1 compression will do that....... ;D ;D

I remember a mag story in the mid '90's. They had Brocky do hot laps in a std SS Commodore, XR8, A9X, and a Phase III, around MtPanorama. The SS and the XR8 were line ball. The A9X was quicker, but the Phase III cleaned the lot of them up.

But, the Phase III used far more fuel, and it was the only one they could hear from the pits as it went across the top.
They had a pic of Brocky laughing as he had it sideways coming out of Murrays Corner...... :cup:

An old mate used to work at a Ford dealer in the 70s.  His comment was at the time the HO had inlet ports that you could " fit ya freakin fist thru".

The old story, what goes in must come out. Those mothers could breath unlike any other donk at the time, or since.

Great vid.

My brother had a 351 4v with the good bits.
Yep, huge inlet ports. Your mate wasn't exaggerating a bit.
The inlet valves were 2.19" to match......

Hey gunna, I hope you don't mind me adding this clip. Guys not a holden ford argument but just an appreciation of these old aussie muscle cars. Many of you would have seen this footage but its great seeing Dick driving brockies a9x around Bathurst.
