Advice on GPS

My old GPS has died and I have decided to replace it with a unit that has 4WD maps.
 The options include the usual suspects but was wondering if you guys have or used OZtop maps. The software cost abt $230 and can be loaded into a new Garman unit ,total cost abt $500
The other unit I was looking at is the Polaris All Terrain GPS  costing about $450.
Any thoughts please.

If you want a cheap option there are a couple...
a) Aldi or chinese GPS  e.g. the double DIN dash mount GPS/Audio systems on EBay. They are mostly easy to modify to run software of choice such as OziExplorer. Plenty of info on http://fixmygps.info/forum/index.php
b) Android phone or tablet running MudMaps, OziExplorer or Androzic (with Ozi maps)

Wifey has bought a MY450LMT Navman with the Hema maps added. Does anyone know how to access them. I tried the "Find" setup & entered " Hema" & some addresses with Hema at the front started loading but it was not what I expected. Am I doing this wrong

I decided on a Google Nexus 7 gen2 32GB tablet $278 from office works yesterday, TOMTOM android app for on street navigation $37 from app store,  and Maveric Pro for Android for off road navigation $5 from app store. Plus Ram Mount about $80 but haven't got that yet.

I've been looking as well.

I was leaning towards the Hema. I found the Hn6 at Rays Outdoors for $549.

I also wanted a reverse camera and this should suit.

Sorry to jump in on the thread but does anyone have any opinions on the hema vs the VMS. I know they are both pricey.

We just use the HEMA app on our Ipad it was $150. We have the Ipad on a mounting bracket on the windscreen. We just use the street maps on the iPad or google maps if we need a street directory in town.

As we are travelling for a year we had to work out what works best for us. As we only brought the iPad with us & no laptop, we use the iPad for everything & didn't want to spend another $500+ on a GPS.

It works for us. We got the biggest iPad we could. 128G iPad Air so it was expensive & with the HEMA app about $1300 total.

I also run the iPad and hema maps with a ram mount fixed to the floor and find it excellent.  I really like the bigger screen for viewing maps.  Cheers Steve
