Legacy volunteers and our Defence Force members are out on the streets collecting funds today. Please make a donation.

If you didn't know, Legacy is a voluntary organisation that provides practical assistance to Australian families suffering financially or socially after the death of a spouse or parent during or after their Defence Force Service.

Let's pray we never need their help, but we can all support their work to help the families of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect Australia.

Have a great day in this safe, lucky country.   :D

Im going to get flamed for this one but here is my idea for charities
Every day of the week it seems to be some sort of day, daffodil day, jeans for genes day etc i have no problem giving money at all but market saturation concerns me so why does not the government do this

All charities apply to some sort of govt scheme
The top say 50 charities are selected

The each year i either elect to give say $100 bucks or 10% of my tax return that is then spread evenly amongst those charities, hell you could even have a website to arrange the split if you like one more than the other.

This way all charities get some money and some of the money they use for marketing campigns could then be redirected to the people that need it

Ps i bought a pen ;D

YOU GET $1000 BUCKS IN YOUR TAX RETURN. I'm lucky to get away without paying.

Good idea but gov being gov would eat up about 90% of collected funds in admin cost...
(Not particularly pointing at either party here)

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?  (Homer J Simpson).

Legacy is a self funded charity.

I have been one of those blokes in ceremonial uniform wearing my medals selling badges.

Great fun when you are in the city. Great time to "pull a r--t" too.

But it is annoying when you get some rich dude wearing his Gucci suit and he only gives a silver coin donation then wants a receipt.

Legacy wanted me to donate today but I couldn't... Literally had my hands full with groceries and 2 kids. Next time maybe we can empty Evo's pockets for them  ;D
