CT Insurance
« on: March 23, 2013, 12:16:45 PM »
Hi,
I am about to collect a new Customline Walk Up CT.  Can anybody suggest an affordable insurance company?  I have tried a few of the big companies and they seem to want more to insure a $27K CT than they do to insure my BT50.  Any advice is greatly appreciated  Thanks Bart.

Make some phone calls Bart. CIL was more expensive than NRMA for us. This has been well and truly covered before.

Bart,
Make sure that the insurance company you are getting quotes from knows it is a camper trailer & not a standard box trailer. For some reason, box trailers are on a higher premium rating compared to campers

I went with QBE after looking at lots of companies, including CIL.  I originally took a cover note out with RACQ (Qld) and then found out they do not cover annexes that are older then 5 years!  Our camper if 6 years of age.  So it pays to read the PDS very carefully and if you need to clarrify any points, get it in writting.   Kevin

I just took out a policy with CIL - Was $135/pa for $5,500 of Camper + $1,000 of contents.

Cheers,

Call a broker, and tell them exactly what you want, word for word. Let them deal with it.

Suncorp $434 for $26000 .. and that's WITH multiple policies.
RACQ was $5 less .. single policy

Stayed with Suncorp simply because of other policies

I went with CIL it was a little more expensive (less than 5 bucks) than some of the others I tried.

However.

They knew what a camper trailer was asked a few questions that the others didn't because they deal with caravans and camper trailers exclusively and to me thats worth the extra.

Just signed up with CIL. Local company to me, always happy to support local buisness and great rates etc. Well impressed.
