hi all just joined up and thought id introduce my self. my name is darren and my wife and i love to get out in our camper trailer all the time.we have a 97 turbo diesel pajero with a gic extreme offroad trailer set up to be completley self sufficent.
A little bit about our travels. about 4 years ago we bought our first camper.it was a home made job where we bought a tent top and than got a trailer and joined them together. we did the occasional weekend away here and there and loved it. we loved it so much that we took 2 months of work and did a trip up the east coast. we got as far as hervey bay and then came back. that was it after that we got the travel bug bad and decided to sell up every thing and travel around Australia. It took about 12 months to sell our house and get everything sorted out.that was in febuary this year. so we decided to upgrade our camper to an offroad model as our old one wasnt cut out for many dirt roads.
so we were finally ready to go and our plan was to leave around april as we had a family reunion at tumby bay in easter.our first part of our journey was to explore the eyre peninsula and than up to the flinders ranges and continue up to birdsville.
we made it up with no problems but on the way back the turbo went on the car about 300km up the birdsville track. so we limped for the next 3 days down to port wakefield and got towed home to goolwa from there.
about 3 weeks later the car was fixed and ready to go. the day before we to leave we spent the day with my brother and his kids and i ended up braking my ankle.so i have stuck at home for the last 3 months going stir crazy waiting to get back on the road again. we did a small trip over the last couple of weeks and went up to camerons corner and down the stzrelcki track but had to come back as i had to have an operation to remove some pins from my ankle.i have 1 more appt next week with the doc so we are hoping all is good so we can start the rest of our journey.

Welcome to MySwag Darren, sounds as though the adventure is about to kick off again, good luck with it and keep us informed of your travels. We like to be able to live away from the desk through others journeys

Hi Darren,
Sounds like you have had a troubled start to your travels! Hope your ankle heals well and you are back on the road again soon.
Only been to S.A. once, Adelaide for business and just across the border on a family drive.
We will be going through S.A. mid next year on a loop from Sydney to Alice Springs via S.A. and back through QLD. Really looking forward to it.

G'day & Welcome Darren.
A bit of bad luck, but you're closer than many of us to heading off, all the best with the trip. Don't forget us once you're on the road, lots of photos and stories for anyone else laid up or stuck at home.
