ITs funny, we used to have 1 bike that could do everything .. now you need a fleet of 1500 bikes for every situation
Now I want me a gravel bike..... but I’m looking for something more oriented for the road that can take 35-38mm tyres. The field of different gravel bikes is quite diverse, I don’t think I want slack and burly. I think I want light and fast and able to handle dry gravel paths and tarmac. If it’s going to be loose and rocky I’ll take the MTB. Any suggestions.
Carbon Norco Search https://www.norco.com/bikes/2020/road/gravel/search-xr-carbon/search-xr-c2/I have the steel version, it's a ripper however I wanted something faster https://www.norco.com/bikes/2019/road/gravel/search-xr-steel/search-xr-steel-rival-1/
Still cheaper than buying cars
I think I’ve narrowed down what I want. It’s between a Specialized diverge and Trek Domane. Just got to find some that are big enough for my 6’3 frame to test ride.
Well I found a bike that can handle the Friday morning gravel rides. It followed me home
It’s fitted out with all Ultegra. Only downside is it has the cyclocross chain rings which are 46-36 with an 11-28 cassette. I’m going to ride it like this for a bit and see if I’m missing some lower gearing for climbing where I live.
Yeah I won’t touch it until I log up some KM. Easiest step is to change to a wider range rear cassette I think there is an 11-34 if I really need it.
I rode my local MTB trails this morning. I was pleased to feel the road hill repeat training during lockdown has done my legs some good. I was consistently riding up hills in bigger gears than usual and my recovery felt quicker.
Repeats on hills, are always going to help, just like doing standing starts, four times a week. Do 250mtrs each time, the first three will get you muscles activated and the forth, you should be able to hammer it. Foo
and by the fifth you may/should be vomiting...
I know of only one hill ....... downhill
Is that the new Mares? Nice colour scheme!!Sent from my Pixel 3 XL using Tapatalk
It’s a Mares but it’s a 2016 model. Was lucky to pick up a good example for the right price.
