Hmm a lot of this sounds very familiar and have used many of the before mentioned tactics ie
deliver to work
won it in a raffle
given a fraction of the price (she only asked the price of the item not the total)
waited to see if noticed
begged forgivness rather than approval (still do)  8)

But the kicker is just recently she made a comment while talking about some of the mods to the Patrol.

swmbo "why havent you got a winch yet? thought you would have wanted one by now!"
me "I do but the current bullbar is not whinch capable so I havent bothered"
swmbo "oh, I didnt know that, Im suprised your not looking at bullbars then! Why dont you see if you cant find a cheap one!"
me "na its ok, it can wait for when we get a new car!"
swmbo "Oh! ok then"

Now most of you would say im crazy for passing an oppertunity like that but that one is tucked away for use later. For when we buy the new patrol (probably in 2-3yrs) , with all the mods that are going to be added before purchase Im going to need every ticket I can  >:D

I think you've made a fatal error. That was permission then, not later. You should have pulled over, got eBay up on your phone and purchased everything, eve if you put it in the shed for the next vehicle.

I 3rd that, you can always pull the winch off the old to go on the new truck but if its not already on it at purchase you've already used your pass.

In that respect that is where I am lucky, once permission is given it is never revoked even with delay factor, I have history to back me up as we have been there and done that with another big ticket item :) . The hard part is getting the permission in the first place.

As a side note new 64GB iPad 3 turned up today. Asked them to deliver between 2 - 3PM today. The courier turned up at 4PM just as SWMBO pulled into the drive...just can't win..."its for the business darling..." "Whatever" was the reply...

    Matto,

You should know better than that.  To help you in the future, refer to the following list.  I've emboldened the item that refers to the above mistake.

    [list=1]

    • Fine : This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and you need to shut up.

    • Five Minutes: If she is getting dressed, this means a half an hour. Five minutes is only five minutes if you have just been given five more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

    • Nothing : This is the calm before the storm. This means something, and you should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with nothing usually end in fine.

    • Go Ahead: This is a dare, not permission. Don't Do It!

    • Loud Sigh: This is actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often misunderstood by men. A loud sigh means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you about nothing. (Refer back to # 3 for the meaning of nothing.)

    • That's Okay: This is one of the most dangerous statements a women can make to a man. That's okay means she wants to think long and hard before deciding how and when you will pay for your mistake.

    • Thanks: A woman is thanking you, do not question, or faint. Just say you're welcome. (I want to add in a clause here - This is true, unless she says 'Thanks a lot' - that is PURE sarcasm and she is not thanking you at all. DO NOT say 'you're welcome'.. That will bring on a 'whatever').

    • Whatever: Is a woman's way of saying...Go to Hell...

    • Don't worry about it, I got it: Another dangerous statement, meaning this is something that a woman has told a man to do several times, but is now doing it herself. This will later result in a man asking 'What's wrong?' For the woman's response refer to # 3.

this is a man's bible brilliant :cup: someone should put that on a shirt or a  beer coaster or cooler ;D

This thread reminds me of the old permission slips for husband and wives.

I guess I am one of the lucky ones. SWMBO doesn't give me a hard time about the money I spend of the toys and luckily she isn't into the shopping thing either. The old safety excuse for the kids and her always seems to work and rarely do I get objections.
