Think Pakistan took all 10 of their own wickets.

look for the book maker in the crowd.

... but this say a lot and I agree that to a point technology is ruining it..
Things like this where its splitting hairs, as has been for over 100yrs, benefit of doubt to batsman (when did that rule get the arse?) .

5 replays is more than enough not dozens and dozens- no decision, not out.

.. or they will build more speed humps just off the pitch so bats jump up....
From The Age
Quote.. and the third umpire determined, after about 927 replays, that when the stumps were broken and the bails fell Rahat's bat was actually in the air (Bounced up off the uneven ground).

made it back in by miles, bat hits uneven ground and skips 1 micron off grass...

In any event, it was a strong indication of how much technology is now helping/interfering with the game of cricket. Third umpires, flashing stumps, zoomed in replays and so on...

I remember back when we had umpire duty when I was playin, if the blokes bat was past the line, he was safe... and our grounds were a tad more uneven than this one...

The bat was quite clearly over the line.....The bunker should never been bought into question.....Umpires need to grow some balls..... >:( >:( >:(

I'm guessing that would be "cricket balls"

Have to disagree there...

The bat being on the ground has always been the rule, even in junior cricket.  Was when I played and it is now.

If you slide your bat properly, it's not a problem.  If you're too lazy to make sure, then it's your problem.

On world class grounds, there shouldn't be bumps big enough to make your bat jump, so it's entirely up to the batsmen to make sure.

No different to the stumping rule.  So a batsman can just have their foot over the line, but not touching the ground??

How far above the ground is acceptable?  One inch, 10cm?  Open to interpretation, which is the bane of umpires in all sports.

At least this rule is clear.  Bat off the ground is out.  Always has been.

If this had of happened when you played my friend.......It would have been given......NOT OUT.....

The bat was only milimeters off the ground...to close to decide with the naked eye....So i rest my case...... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D......Just my oppinion.....The use of the bunker for every decesion has taken the power of the umpires away....

                         Cheers Tracker.

agree that if this particular situation had happened in junior cricket, that it would have been given not out, but only because the umpire wouldn't have seen the bat off the ground

how this umpire saw that the bat was off the ground in the first place in this case is the issue.  the bunker just does what it does.  it saw the bat was off the ground, with the technology that they have.  not their fault.

i don't agree with the bunker being there at all, but it is there, and the umpires are able to use it...

at least there is no ambiguity with this rule and tech, not like with LBW's, which is a total face...  ???

Looking at the photo, at full stretch, how the **** is he not sliding his bat properly? I only played 27 years myself, still don't know much else he could do apart from run off, and have Joel Garners legs sewn on for a longer stride.

You can be quite sure if it was an Aussie batsman, he'd be not out and given a Government grant.

The fact they needed to see it 21948023984023984 times to make a decision shows they were going to great lengths to ensure a result one way or other one way.

I think more people need to open both eyes.

like i said, the problem is that we can see that it was millimetres up in super slow-mo, but how did the umpire see that at full speed?

the actual decision is not the issue, because the decision (according to the rules) is right.  you can't have it both ways.

sometimes, s**t happens in sport.

i might be naive, but i believe that not everything is corrupt and evil in sport, sometimes it's just bad luck...  :D

How determined are we to lose this match.  About time to reintroduce the bowlers to what they are aiming for , the wickets.  The batters can let everything go it is not going to hit the wickets

Triple in your 3rd test match... that's pretty fukcin impressive....

Quotehttp://www.theage.com.au/sport/cricket/karun-nair-triple-century-against-england-fuels-india-to-highest-ever-test-innings-20161219-gtei9z.html

Nair became the second Indian batsman to score a test triple hundred and his 303 not out helped the hosts post a massive 759 for seven before skipper Virat Kohli declared.

He struck his 32nd four off Adil Rashid to bring up his triple century before raising his bat in celebration as his coach Anil Kumble, a keen photographer, captured the moment on camera.

Nair was at the other end when Lokesh Rahul, his partner in a 161-run fourth-wicket stand, fell agonisingly short of his double century on Sunday by playing a rash shot when one run away from the milestone.

only the third player ever (behind garfield sobers and bob simpson) to go on to make a triple century as their maiden test century...

doesn't bode well for our upcoming tour there next year...

Can someone please explain to me why the ABC have a female pom commentating on a test match between Australia and Pakistan?
I know Jim Maxwell has been ill but surely we're not that devoid of cricketing talent that we cant find some decent commentators.
