Sandy Creek causway

For those people who have been to sandy creek this is a pic of the causeway that you drive in on.

I know this is nothing compared to downsouth but there about 20 people spending an extra night or two out there .

Yes we had a VERY VERY wet weekend .

I think everyone would be happy about that!  I know we were happy last weekend when we got flooded in ... an extra days camping ... priceless.

The Man tried to walk the crossing to cut the fence below, but it was flowing too fast ...

WOW we have driven across that causeway many times, but nothing like that.

The water was about a good metre lower than this shot . some people took a pic of my cusier and kimberley draging my sisters little suzuki vitara across.

Well it was floating across actually.

In all seriousness it was done with every possible thought given to saftey and I just wish the guy that went 10 mins after we left and went off the causway had asked for help rather than going it alone and coming to grief.

It took 2 straps to get the required distance with the right amount of angle in order to keep the straps out of the water so the water pressure did not pull the straps down.

I am waiting on a copy of the vid so I will post it up when I get it.

Similarly we opted to spend last Saturday night doing an overnighter test-out trip with the new shiney Lifestyle CT, out at the Booloumba Ck site neat Kenilworth. We arrived at about 5pm to find the place emptying out and passers-by warning us that the creeks were rising and that we wouldn't get out if we stayed the night.

We turned around and moved on to the Charlie Moreland site up the road, and crossed over the (then) sedate and hardly running creek causeway on the way in and setup for the night in heavy rain. Checked the causeway in the morning and it had risen 1m crossing the road by 500mm, running very fast, and no-one was going home that way! There were 4 groups camped there, and some had 2WD's who were going to be there for days I'd say!!

We packed up and headed out westwards on the Dry-Weather Only logging road towards Jimna, and made it home that way. Much fun, and an extra 90 mins wet and slippery drive, but there was no way I was risking the crossing.

Glad you were able to get home safely.

I think Charlie Moreland is a better option for a CT anyway.
