It's only a basic GIC Off-road model but after 10 years of wanting i have finally ordered my first camper trailer
. Up till now we have been avid campers but have stuck with tenting with the kids. They're all almost grown up now and I've been after something that will avoid the drama of packing and unpacking camping gear. Hopefully with a camper pre-packed we'll be able to head out at much shorter notice.
I was originally looking at buying a trailer and going with one of the Austrack tents but after spending some time at GIC the other week the wife (she's much better at the bartering than me
) convinced them to throw in the gas struts, kitchen and a water tank all for the base $4700 price. Felt I couldn't go past that for good value
Thanks to GU-Thomo I have a great 3-way fridge/freezer and courtesy of the Kangaroo Camping sale the other week I also got some new camping gear to replace my aging cooker & BBQ.
I know it's not a 'proper' off-road trailer but it's something to get us started and I can always upgrade things as I go.
Will pick up on the 22nd just before Christmas
and hopefully give it a christening just after.
I've got to say that this is a great community of people. I've been hovering 'in the wings' for quite a while now absorbing lots of information and great advise. Thanks everyone
