Yep, we're gunna do it again.
Lots of us will continue to get rid of some kilos and we welcome any newbies wanting to join.

I'll weigh in properly tomorrow, but a ball park for me is:
100.4kg, target is about 85kg.
6'3" tall, 37yo.
I also use this site (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/personalized/) to help plan things and get a gauge of where I am.
Currently a BMI of about 27.7, but I ride 60km + per week at a decent pace so some of that is muscle. Estimate of body fat is 31%, so theres certainly some scope to lose some there.
From that website the target weight for me is in the region of 80kg - 88kg, so I'm aiming for the lower end of that:
Based on the Broca formula, ideal weight is 81 kg.
Based on the Devine formula, ideal weight is 84.05 kg.
Based on the Robinson formula, ideal weight is 80.13 kg.
Based on the Miller formula, ideal weight is 77.07 kg.
Based on the Hamwi formula, ideal weight is 88.37 kg.
Based on the Lemmens formula, ideal weight is 79.42 kg.
Based on the BMI range formula, ideal weight is between 66.79 kg and 90.25 kg

ok... I'm in this year.
after a best ever year back in 2010 of 99.5kgs. (last time I rode the Simpson desert Bike Challenge), the last 6 years have seen a fast climb (along with almost zero riding) up to... I'm guessing around 150kgs (at the in-laws for the next two weeks and no scales to check on).
My goal is sub 100. But with such an "ahem" high starting weight... I'll settle for 120kgs.
52yo in March, 5'9".
I hope being here will keep me honest.
I'll not be really able to do a proper weigh in until I get home on the 16th.

Made the mistake of going to the docs yesterday for a check up with the lovely. between the blood pressure being at 160/110 and both the doc and wife giving me a mouthful saying I wont be here in 5 years. I need to lose the gut and change the lifestyle work/life balance me thinks, obviously he first week at no loss is not ideal :'(

Try swimming/ water running as a low impact form of exercise. Also very good in this heat as the
water keeps body temp down reducing risk of heat injuries
I also find instead of running all the time as that can get rather boring, explore HIIT (high intensity interval training). Great workout in short amount of time and perfect for strength and increasing your cardiovascular

23/12 Starting weight 96kg -the heaviest I've even been...
( I weighed myself before a month long camping/touring trip that involved good healthy summer eating with little crap. )
25/1 Returned home to scales. Pleasantly suprised to see 92kg a 4 kg loss.
I got excited and kept going.
28/2 85.2kg roughly 10 kg loss to date with 7 cm off the gut. I've reclaimed 70% of my wardrobe!!!!
It's been pleasantly easy. I've chosen to do zero exercise and eliminate all sugar. I've cut out 99% of processed foods and only have red meat once or twice a week. Still enjoy a scotch and diet coke very regularly.
Breakfast is usually a smoothy made up of fruit, milk, yogurt and lots of crushed ice. Lunch is rice cakes with cottage cheese tomatoes chives basil.
Dinner is normally fish fried in a little oil and as much salad as I can eat (No dressing). The salad is full of tasty stuff like boiled eggs, avacado, goji berries, sunflower and pumpkin seeds. Really tasty with an interesting texture.
Target weight would be about 76kg I reckon so I'm happy to be half way there.

Nice one mate. I've done pretty much the same. Just cut out all the crap (bar a few birthday dinners here and there) and been doing an hour walk most days.
Quite surprised how much I've been able to lose in such a short time.
Nice wearing my old boardies again :cup:

Thanks Guey. I read the whole thread and was impressed with your results. I was down to 78kg a couple of years ago but that involved running 10km 5 times a week. Too old/lazy for that now I thought but now being 10 kg lighter running will be a lot easier. So I'll give it a go in a week or two. Hey maybe I'm getting my exercise mojo back.......

I am surprised at the energy I do have now, and how the most basic of things like getting up off the couch is so much easier.
Would love to put the coke back in my bourbon, but will stick to soda water for a while.

When I have spirits, I mix mine with half caffeine free coke & half soda. It wasn't as good as coke to start with but now 100% coke is too sweet. Maybe an option for you when you go back :cheers:

Your not the only one. Been a few things happening the past couple of months and put myself on hold while helping others. Hasn't helped my weight loss but I wouldn't turn my back on these people for that either. Anyhow that's life and I know things will settle back down soon and I can get back to looking after myself soon enough. In the meantime I have to stop the comfort eating just because I am in pain.

Spent half a night in hospital last week with suspected gall stones. Going for some scans today. The doc thinks it may be caused from the reasonably quick weight loss. Try and get healthy and end up worse than you were to start with...

Cheers mate. I took bloods before I started and subsequently at 3 month intervals just to keep my eye on things. I always said that if it was gonna kill me I'd give it up - ironically I had no issue shoveling down 2x King size twix, 1 x nutella, 1 x jam donut per day without thinking about my health.. Losing weight has taught me I can't abuse my body with impunity.

Disappointing week apart form the mother in law being here and being her usual narcissistic self the back seized and had me in a great deal of discomfort, unable to do anything but sit or stay in bed. More concerning I am used to the sciatic pains in the right leg and this time the left leg was getting into it as well. Back mobile for now, sort of, still not as good as before.

I do it full time for the last pretty much seven months. No cheat days. Quite strict, under 20g net carbs per day (usually under 20carbs total). I weigh/track all my foods/electrolytes.
In terms of splits, I did initially start with just eating to hunger type stuff, probably something like 5% carb 70% fat 25% protein. About three months ago I changed to the ketogains method which has yielded much better results and also meant I've been building muscle (coupled with gym work, no exercise prior to that really).
Ketogains don't do splits as such, they have a calculator based on your lean body mass/BF, goals and lifestyle.
So for me, 29/m 176cm LBM around 65-70kg (40%BF), at a 25% deficit, I eat around 1450 calories per day, 140g protein, 20g carb, fats 90ish (though my fats vary between 50-90g depending on hunger - when I have less fat I lose more weight). It's working for me so far, over 40kg down, am squatting 85kg and deadlifting 100kg (started with just the bar).
Keto also cured me of my chronic headaches (4+ a week, plus at least one migraine weekly, and usually a hospital visit once a month, not to mention the amount of nurofens/panadols/oxy/endone I was taking just to get through it). Since starting keto, I've had 4 headaches in seven months. Even if I wasn't losing weight I'd stay keto just because I have my life back now.

Im pretty much running macros at 1/3 ea, approx 2500cal, with an active lifestyle mowing lawns and overhauling gardens for a living.
MyFitnessPal makes it easy to track and easy to adjust macros if required.
Ive lost 30kgs since my peak in 2013 being 138, then 131kg in '14; 123kg in '15; 113kg lasg year and current year 106kg.
So a slow burn, but have gone from a 122 waist to 102 and dropping; 3xl shirt to L, in fact just started nicking some of my teenage sons t's from his cupboatd.
My motivation and commitment ebbs and flows, BUT I log in here every week, I need to have some accountability and for me this thread is it.

Great work mate. I hit near enough to 160kg last year. The scales stopped reading me, so I'm not really sure how heavy I got.
With a 6 month old at the time, decided I wanted to be around for his 18th.
Ironically I spent ages procrastinating looking at keto, saying to myself 'i dont want it to damage me'. One day I woke up and realised I was doing twice the damage eating 2 x twix a day, plus a couple of nutella donuts and whatever else I could shovel in. Next day I started, haven't looked back.
It's nice having gone from 7xl shirts that didn't fit me properly to now wearing 3xl that are big (2xl still just that bit tight though).
Your job is a heap more physically exhaustive than mine, I work in IT and sit in an office. Trying to offset that by doing weights 3x a week, indoor cricket 1x a week, and training for gridiron 2x a week. Sleeping somewhere in between haha.

currently 100kg...had a break for almost 6 weeks..drinking again...but not putting on any weight...
daily workouts HIIT and a reduced eating window regieme excluding three foodgroups obviously works for me as it also allows me to gain muscle and get my VO2 even higher..fitness has gone through the roof...
last night hitting the opiss..got lots of custard to lose so tomorrow its back to strict training and no piss for 6 weeks....tempted to go back to fight training as i feel soft non fighting for past 10 years or so...anyone south of adelaide want to spar 80% contact? freestyle of course..boxing / martial arts

Seven or so weeks since the last weigh in (time flies). Have been sitting pretty stable at the 66.5 - 67kg mark now for a month or so.
Can't believe the amount of people that have asked in the last couple of months if i'm ok. When I say yeah all good, they all figured I must have cancer or something to have lost weight.

I've been an on and off contributor to this thread since its existence but finally made the decision to join my wife on limiting carbs [ keto etc ]
and it has been a good one.
I "started" on 23/01/2017 @ 135 kg and have rested for a month twice along the way so far and maintained.
I have tried to limit carbs to 50 per day, have had the odd selective pub meal along the way and still drink a slab on the weekends [ Burleigh BigHead - no carb beer ]
and chuffed today to reach a milestone [ see pic ].
I'll maintain now for a few weeks and march on for another 10 kg, then maintain forever.

Gonna have to look into this beer though, been dying for a decent drink!

It is a tad expensive, $67 a slab, but worth it to have a cold one now and again, and remain on focus.
It is nice to be able to buy clothes off the rack again. :cheers:

Lunch was a chicken salad
Dinner a porterhouse, 6 prawns in garlic sauce and parsnip chips.
Washed down with a couple of beers.
All up way less than 40 carbs for the day. :cheers:

So anyway decided to make a start this week, little guy is sleeping till 6 so I've got a bit of time. Plus the wife is watching what we eat so that will help too.

Hi guys, I started my nutritional cleansing on the 1st May weighing 115.8kg. Now I weigh 101.2kg (14.6kg in 10weeks), have way more energy, feel great and still loosing weight.
I spend one week in the city office and one week on site in mining camps where there is plenty of food and temptation. The programme I'm on allows me to travel with ease and remain on course. I still manage to have a couple of rums on the weekend with mates and then reset on Monday.

I haven't contributed to this thread, but congrats to those of you who have stuck with it and changed your lives around. I too was very over weight, i was a 120 kg 33 yr old a couple of years ago, I was literally dying, and seeing my very overweight father having health issues (still ongoing 2 years later) i decided to change my life around. For me I decided exercise was the way to go and a change in the way I eat. Im now an Ironman finisher having found a passion for endurance sports and for me a change to a low carb high fat (good fats) lifestyle was the winner (being fat adapted for endurance sports instead of sugar). We are also a gluten free household as our son has Coeliac disease, so to limit the risk of cross contamination we decided to be 100 gluten free, it has benefited all of us. I dont touch alcohol, swim on average 8 km a week, ride 150-200 km depending on where i am at in my training for next event, and run up to about 50-60 km a week.
Changing to a healthy lifestyle has seen huge improvements in my relationship with my wife, im a more involved father with my kids and we are an active and happy family.
Again congrats to you all on the changes you have made.
oh im now at 89kg, still a few kg to shed but it will happen.

So happy to throw my hat into this... Been watching but silently behind closed doors on a weight loss mission.
We only started 16 weeks ago (more about what we are doing).
So when i started (too much time behind a keyboard) i was 143.1.. (16 weeks ago)
Currently 118.7kg
Very happy with weight loss, and loosing roughly 1 to 1.5kg a week.
Also went crazy and about 6 weeks in, went to see the doctor with full checkup, and everything was excellent.
Plan is to get down to 90KG i'd like to be under 100kg before xmas.
In saying that you might see the car/van around AUS, as we leave for a 9week trip in VIC, NSW, QLD in 3 weeks.. But we have a personal trainer helping and has given us some great ideas and concepts to exercise without the home gym.
Food wise, 16 weeks ago we decided exercise isn't enough, so we decided to give the CSIRO program a go. LOVE IT!! Wife has lost nearly the same as me, Kids have even lost a heap of weight!.. And still having wine, beer and drinks etc when i want to..
Still lots to go, i think in the next 2 weeks i will hit my half way mark which will be very cool.

Should probably provide some context seeing as I have just joined in.
Have been a reasonably good exerciser over the years, with the last 8 or so years doing endurance events (long distance running / marathons and long course triathlons), however following a reasonably large bike stack resulting in a shoulder re-co, followed by another stack injuring an elbow have pretty much given this up. Team this up with a very high pressure job and working long hours have seen the weight stack back on to what you see above.
Prior to starting the long distance events I had maxed out at 125kg, and once got serious over about 9 months lost a total of 40kgs to weigh in at 85kg. As you can see have put the majority of that back on over the last 3 years or so since the injuries started.
Aim is to see if I can get back down to that 85kg mark, but this time do it in a healthy way that is done via healthy weight loss (ie 0.5kg to 1.0kg per week) and without killing myself training.
Off to a reasonable start now that I have pulled my head in. Would like to be circa 100/105kg come Christmas and then see what happens from there.

Weighing my food and entering it into the MyFitnessPal app. It tracks the calories, carbs, protein and fat's in your food. I have certain macro's I aim for which is what's been working for me.

Currently at 1410 calories. Eating at 123g minimum protein per day, 20g net carbs max, and less 94g fat daily.
I'm rarely hungry at those, and feel amazing. Some days I'm higher in protein and lower on fat, I balance it so I remain at or under my calories.

A few setbacks here and there saw me lose the weightloss plot and I creeped back up to 113Kg
A new regime with an end purpose and a treat >:D >:D >:D for every 5Kg and I am off again

Soo the time has come to knock off the weight " Again " .. got down to 119 Kg for my last surgery back in April 2015 ... [ had shed roughly 13 Kg ] for that .
My Doctor is into me about my weight " like he can talk " reckon he could lose 30 kg and still be above what I am .
But it is what it is and I'm headed for surgery # 6, So off with the Kg's it has to be .
Cutting out / way down on softies. Allowing 4 lite beers pw and roughly 800 +- cals a day .plenty of water . lets see how we go .
I stand 6'4" and of solid large frame build . walk roughly 5+K's per shift at work .

First goal is to loose enough weight to fit into my suit for my nieces wedding in early December so I don't have to buy another one..... got 3 already. Second goal is to be 100kg by xmas.

Thought I would put in an update 5 months on. Still enjoying a drink or five, but still maintaing a reasonably healthy diet. I have put 2kg back on and to be honest I think I could do with put putting a couple more back on.
Certainly makes a difference when you go to shove things around and you don't have enough weight behind you to move it.
Have done bugger all walking for the last couple of months and finding joints are suffering again. So will be starting that up again.
Have found the food intake quantities v exercise the hardest part to manage, as the exercise was still resulting in weight loss I didn't want, but didn't want to get back in the habit of bigger meal portions.

Ok so have been off the wagon for some time. I started 3 years ago at 129Kg
Got down to 120Kg at the end of year 1
Year two saw 107KG
A few setbacks here and there saw me lose the weightloss plot and I creeped back up to 113Kg

Soo the time has come to knock off the weight " Again " .. got down to 119 Kg for my # 5 surgery back in April 2015 ... [ had shed roughly 13 Kg ] for that .
My Doctor is into me about my weight " like he can talk " reckon he could lose 30 kg and still be above what I am .
But it is what it is and I'm headed for surgery # 6, And the surgeon would like me to try to get down to 115 Kg, So off with the Kg's it has to be . We will have to see about the 115 Kg bit though .
Cutting out / way down on softies. Allowing 4 lite beers pw and roughly 800 +- cals a day .plenty of water . lets see how we go .
Chop chop day letter arrived today the 21st, listing the 6- Feb-18 for the cut n shut or sooner if there is a cancellation .

Sorry for the absence. Had some personal things happen and real life takes over. Still dropping weight, albeit at a slower rate now. Bodyfat is approaching 20% which is good. Plan is to get down to 82kg then do a recomp, basically bulk/cut between 82-92. Have started some new gym training, it's called GZCLP and results are through the roof. Been a great mental refresher to change gym training up. Now to focus hitting goals before xmas and then give the body a break for a week before getting back into it.
Target weight: 82kg @ 12% BF long term.

Wow, 16kg in under two months is quite an effort. Just make sure you're getting enough protein in those calories. Great work mate!

Thanks mate, apart from being a bit tired and feeling flat at times its been fairly easy this time round .
Love me meat and spuds but they have been on the very limited list, If I keep going I'll start to look like a chook crossed with a fish I reckon . Been having a balance of everything but in small amounts of it, even sweets and beer .. just add it to the daily total calories limit of 800 > 1000 and compensate for it ;D
Surgeon wanted the " WEIGHT " off, Well now the only " WAIT " on is the phone call to go in to be opened up again ..Hoping they get a cancellation before Christmas that they can slot me in ..

Good stuff mate, Keep plugging away, Bit by bit ..Level out and work on holding steady at what youve got down too, then set another goal of say 10 Kg off and do the same ..
Ive found its not so much getting down to the weight, but trying to hold at or near the target weight .. 2.5 years ago I got the weight off for surgery and held it off for 18 months, Then got slack and lazy with the calorie watching, then bingo back up to 132 + again.

Just came across this thread, hit rock bottom when last at doctor ant tipped the scales at 117kg. I am trying the man shake diet and am liking it. Doing 70 km on the bike per week as well. First goal is to loose enough weight to fit into my suit for my nieces wedding in early December so I don't have to buy another one..... got 3 already. Second goal is to be 100kg by xmas.

Post up a start weight and set yourself a realistic goal of say 10 Kg off, Work out a balanced calorie count of say 2000 a day, Dont deny yourself anything you like / portion size and amount control / add it into the 2000 cals limit http://www.calorieking.com.au/foods/ (http://www.calorieking.com.au/foods/)
and check the scales say every two weeks ..[ best way is record a relaxed gut measurement though and watch it shrink ] Remember water intake ups the weight on the scales .. 1 lt = 1 kg

Yes Ger08, i am doing the "man shake" thingy and follow it about 95%, just love my mashed spuds and spag bol. I exercise each day on the pushy 10k morning and arvo. lost almost 16 kg since 23/8/17 so am very happy with it. I don't use the supplied shaker though, i use one of those magic bullet things and it makes an awesome smoothie.

Soo the time has come to knock off the weight " Again " .. got down to 119 Kg for my # 5 surgery back in April 2015 ... [ had shed roughly 13 Kg ] for that .
My Doctor is into me about my weight " like he can talk " reckon he could lose 30 kg and still be above what I am .
But it is what it is and I'm headed for surgery # 6, And the surgeon would like me to try to get down to 115 Kg, So off with the Kg's it has to be . We will have to see about the 115 Kg bit though .
Cutting out / way down on softies. Allowing 4 lite beers pw and roughly 800 +- cals a day .plenty of water . lets see how we go .
Chop chop day letter arrived today the 21st, listing the 6- Feb-18 for the cut n shut or sooner if there is a cancellation .
As a note of interest, Do one of these .

That was my last weigh in for the year. I needed a bit of a mental break, was chasing targets too hard and it was messing with me mentally and emotionally. Still counting calories and hitting the gym, just having a rest from the scales.
43kg lost for the year, I'm very happy with that and 67kg+ lost in total (my scales only went to 157kg, I was heavier than that when I started, but who knows how much by. I'd guesstimate 165ish).
Will be jumping back on in the new year with not as much to lose, but a fair bit of body recomp work to do!

I am keen to start the weight loss programme with you all in 2018.
Been hard trying to drop the 15 kilos that I need to loose but having to post my weight loss each week and making it public will give me extra incentive to do so. Being 167cm does not help me at all either.
Think this is a great thread, encouraging each other and posting hints and ideas that will help.
