hi all,
just wondering if anyone has a 'go-to' glue for shoe repair?
i've got a few pairs to fix, and need to get something that works.
mainly sneaker style, rubber materials...
i see some specialty 'shoe' glues, but not sure if they actually work?
tips appreciated.
The only glue I know of is "Tarzans Grip " but it might not be made anymore

I've never tried it but it's been around for years so must do what it claims OK.

It's good stuff.
I'm really, really hard on footwear due to the way I walk. (Polio). I strike heel first in a twisting motion so I tend to blow out the uppers and heels. I discovered Shoe-Goo years ago and have found that it more than doubles the time a pair of shoes lasts me.

ended up finding some at rebel sport... was in the cricket bat section, to fix up the toe's of bats... :D
has Gray-Nicolls on the packaging, but shoe-goo on the tube... weird...
Superglue works quite well too. But better on smaller repairs, and you have to get the parts very clean first. Also you need to try and keep the glue layers nice and thin. I've used it on thongs as well.
As a skater of many many years, shoe goo was, and still is my go to shoe repair glue.

Sometimes I feel a bit stupid asking these sorts
of questions, but on this forum, it's generally always worthwhile...

This is a big help, as I have some sandals which need a repair. Also, I need a couple of new grips for my cricket bat! Dinkum! ;D

If you don't find it too uncomfortable put a foam sleeve around your big toe, then put your sock on. Soft foam around 3mm thick, podiatrists often do this for people with dodgy toes for protection, so it must work both ways.

I gave up on mesh runners for this reason, and started wearing cross trainers. They have a similar sole but leather (or fake leather) uppers and last much longer. They also shine up a bit with nugget.
