G'day Guys,
We have a quick trip to make to Cairns next week for my grandmothers funeral and are looking for a good quiet rest stop that we can cook a feed (on our own fire or gas) & roll a swag out. Are there any good recommendations close to Townsville coming from Charters Towers way?
Thanks
G'day guys, I've stopped at Reid River rest area.
Thanks Sol, I've just found it on google, it looks good. Cheers for that
Listo
You might find a few grey nomads there mate ;D but it's a good spot.

We just passed through that way on the weekend and I would agree that Reid River looks good. Not sure if it helps but we found the cheapest fuel was at a Sellheim on the Townsville side of Charters. Burdekin Duck Roadhouse.
There's a few good ones just north of Townsville. Blue water has a free camp area beside the highway (25 min north) or there a couple of nice ones at Balgal Beach / Rollgstone (45 min north of Townsville). All are very popular and can fill up fairly quickly at this time of year though.
Rollingstone pub  :cup:
Thanks guys, we are just going to play it by ear now & see how far we can get. I have to be in Cairns by Tuesday lunch time to get the car serviced, so the further the better on Monday.
