Ok so problem number 2 with dads avan. We keep getting a slight "zap" from the chassis ( and anything attached to it ) from the van. It seems like a 12v shock as it isn't that big. However we noticed that when the 240v power is disconnected it stops. There is a 240 to 12v charger in the van. What would be causing this ????
Cheers chippy :)
Hi Chippy, you won't get zapped from 12V. I would suggest getting a sparky pronto to look at it.

x2 and don't re-connect it to 240V until the problem is rectified

It's more of a tingle than a zap , and the 240 is running through an rcd so I'm not too worried . I'm just trying to source the fault
You have a power leakage a safety switch should detected it. A small power leakage can give you a tingle. Moisture in the unit can do this. Or moisture in the leads.
RCD or not get it checked out ASAP.
We will check it out this arvo
I'm aware it needs to be looked at .... Hence why I have posted this !
I get a tingle like this to when my Ctek's are charging my patrol, I have a feeling it could be to do with the earth for the batteries aren't near each other or not a good contact for the earth.
But no one else gets it when I ask its only me who gets the tingle?
We solved the issue ! The problem was in my extension cord not dad's van. The earth cable was broken in the plug. It was before the rcd so didn't trip it. All fixed and sorted now :)
Cheers chippy :)
 That was an easy fix
It took some fault finding to locate it, but s good result :)
good news :D
