Hi guys
I have a warn high mount on my 80 series and am considering the switch to synthetic rope. Does anyone have a high mount loaded with synthetic rope and know how much it will hold?
The most common lengths available are 30m x 9mm or 28m x 10mm. I am sure the high mount will hold more than this. (40m x 10mm???)
Also any advice on diameter and strength required would be appreciated. I use snatch blocks etc when winching as a matter of course to ease the load on the winch (8500pound). Worst case scenario would be recovering the 80 series with the KK attached from mud etc.
Regards
Jas
Red Dog on here stated he has 55 mts of 10mm rope on his hi mount.
not sure if his drum is modified or not!

Yes 55m of 10mm rope from Ebay, I was going to get 60m of the 10mm But, This is with a reduced diameter drum and 76mm wider as well.
To give you and idea there are a few people on Patrol 4x4 who have 50m of 11mm rope on a slandered high mount drum and that would be heaps.
Here is the link to the Patrol thred, - http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/recovery-gear-87/how-much-dyneema-rope-high-mount-102589/ (http://www.patrol4x4.com/forum/recovery-gear-87/how-much-dyneema-rope-high-mount-102589/)

and they ship to AU.
Here is the guy I got mine from and this is the size I would put on a stranded drum, http://stores.ebay.com.au/Best-Deals-Direct/Dyneema-Rope-10mm-x-50m-/_i.html?_fsub=2210157016&_sid=712690956&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322 (http://stores.ebay.com.au/Best-Deals-Direct/Dyneema-Rope-10mm-x-50m-/_i.html?_fsub=2210157016&_sid=712690956&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322)
The other thing to remember with rope is with use it dose swell a little so allow for that too.
