After some ideas on how to prepare and check the soft floor camper against severe travelling dust. Our camper uses car quality seals on the tail gate and storage box. (which are my campers only openings).
Do I just apply some vaseline to the seals to make sure ? (or will that make them 'gunk' up ?)
And is there anyway to test that you have a good seal against the dust ?

One tip we were told in bad dust was to wipe the seals down everyday. Keep the dust at bay.
If you are worried about the seals drying out or becoming really dirty, just give them a quick wash with water and detergent, then grab some baby oil and apply it. You don't want to overdo it though, just a thin film and the rubber will absorb it.

Graeme,
thanks..I'm not so worried about the seals drying out..they are relatively new and in great nick. It more that in another thread, someone who has just been over the area we are heading to, mentioned the amouont of Bull dust was incredible, and that it was getting in everywhere...So I am trying to see what ways there are to make sure I have the best seal possible. I will give your oil tip a go. Thanks.

It gets worse when you stop, and set up camp......... ;D ;D ;D
You will never keep all the dust out. Bull dust is like talcom powder being very fine and gets in everywhere.
As mentioned make the seals clean and tight when traveling.

Still drives the wife crazy...she spends a lot of time re-cleaning stuff...
Duct tape? Seal up the tailgate in about 1 minute. 1 roll would last for ages.
