My wife and I are just about to buy a camper for the first time. No camping experience, but we did build a yacht and sail it round the world so we are used to roughing it. Can anyone give us their views of the Jayco Penguin Outback as an off-road camper? Alternatively views on what would be suitable at about the same price? We are in our late 60s and reasonably active. Vehicle is an Amarok automatic. Thanks!
Though the name might suggest otherwise, I don't think Jayco Penguins float very well

As an old yachtie to, welcome aboard. It all depends where you want to take the Penguin, the GRR yes to Mitchell Falls, let you know in a couple of months. We are buying a Jayco OB van after the Kimberley trip and know it will do what we want, nothing like the GRR or the Cape. All campers, CTs are a bit like sailing, you know when to ease the sheets to make it a lot more comfy if you want to be able to use the camper like your trip around the world maybe a campertrailer like ours, it is all horses for courses as they say.
Many thanks for the replies. We are still surveying the field and will be having a look at the Avan next week. Also thinking about going to the Wagga show.
Cheers, Peter
