Hi Gang,
Newbie to the CT world here.
I just purchased a 'renovators dream' mid-1980's Cub Camp-o-matic.
I've been a tent person for a long time, but wanted to take a step up to a trailerable hard-floor tent.
It's a big project (which I love the challenge of), needing quite a bit or frame rust dealt with, replacement of the drawbar, full re-timber, new canvas, repaint, etc, etc. I think you get the picture... a complete rebuild!!! However, all the basics are there.
Anyhow, just wanted to say hi. I'll post once I start the rebuild and will surely have loads of Q's for you.
Couple of starter pics:
G'day & Welcome.
Gee, you've certainly taken on a challenge there Aaron. I hope you get to go camping some day. With no wish at all to be rude, is it worth restoring?
Hi Aaron... welcome!
Your little cub is the same as my last camper, I also did her up, the pic is of the finished product, I will have to dig out some older shots!
Pete

Hi Jules,
Not rude at all mate and ,YES, I think it's worth it.
The only high-cost item will be the new canvas. Everything else is just time and hard toil!
I've been working on a vintage boat for 2 years that no-one else would touch. Its not even close to done and I'm getting all kinds of offers now that the 'vision' is clearer to all other than just me.
So I say its about having a vision... maybe being a bit of a sucker for punishment and the journey rather than the destination.
Hi Pete,
Yours looks a little bit newer (it's deeper).
Did you get a new canvas? Do you recall where from and rough cost? It's my one big unknown cost at this stage.

Yes, I think mine was a Supermatic, not a Campomatic! No, I didn't do the canvas, that was the only thing the old owners did in order to sell it. The canvas was Two weeks old when we bought it.
There is a place on the net that does off the shelf replacement canvas for the old Cub's. I will have a look around tonight and see if I can find the place.
Welcome mate... good luck with the rebuild
Welcome to myswag Aaron & family

Hi Aaron,
Mate I admire your determination on this project. This is something that I would like to see myself have a crack at but in reality probably never would.
Well done and would love to see the pics as you progress.
Gday Aaron

Good luck with the reno

Welcome Aaron
Cubs are a great camper, so you should be working with something that will be worth it in the end.
Good luck
