Where do you guys empty your portable dunny cartridges when out for more than a few nights?
They are supposed to be emptied at proper dump points and you can find out where they are here: http://www.dumppoints.com/ (http://www.dumppoints.com/)
MIL's flower garden.......... >:D
Nah, JK is on the money. Check the list for a dump point nearest to camp.
The Camps Australia Wide book also lists public dump points, both in alphabetical index form and via symbols on the maps.
I....I mean my missus dumps it at the campground......usually behind a tree....!!!!
But it only gets filled with no.1 's....and no chemicals and no paper.....no worse than what I do ;D
Dump points ,,NEVER EVER into a closed septic system or a council / main roads long drop anerobic system as the chemicals will kill the bacteria ,,, also depends on what your using in your porta potty ,any thing that has Formaldahyde is a NO NO .

Is this less of an issue if you only use napisan? I think I read that napisan is fine for septics etc.

That's exactly what I've heard too. Apparently Nappysan is one of the safest things to use.
There was a member on another forum who did a lot of research on this, here is the link, http://www.expandasdownunder.com/showthread.php/636-Meet-our-KFE-%2817.56-2-OB%29 (http://www.expandasdownunder.com/showthread.php/636-Meet-our-KFE-%2817.56-2-OB%29) , it is near the bottom of the page.
Hope this helps
