Hi guys, I have about 5l of stale fuel in a jerry can that I need to get rid of. Where's the best place to dispose of old fuel? Tipping the plants wont like it if I just pour it on the garden  ;D.
Cheers, Sam.

X2
For that matter, I shudder to think where the thousands of gallons of paint thinner, turps, metho' etc used by painters and tradies ends up. There's no chemical dump in my town, just pristine rivers and lakes......
Cheers,
Cam

Waxy leaf stuff is hard to kill as weed killer won't sink in. Guy at work knows the trick, I'll ask him.

Put some dishwashing liquid in the mix ... it gets through the waxy coating ... just like it gets through grease on your dishes.

Get ahold of a Transpacific (http://www.transpacific.com.au/content/home.aspx) company in your area ... they can guide you to who can do this depending on where you live of course.  They love recycling ... it's what they do best.
Council just say "not us" and that's that.

Good idea but our mower is a 4 stroke and the fuel I have is 50:1, 2 stroke.

take a few hundred mls camping every time you go and use it to light a fire.. it will go eventually.

With the ivy you have to cut the stem in a few spots and paint it on undiluted will fix most nabours unwanted plants

Donate it to your local RFS/CFA to mix as drip torch fuel.

This. The detergent makes it "sticky" too. Good to use with RoundUp, etc, if you need it to stick to persistant weeds.
I use old fuel along the edges of the garden, kills the grass nicely and stops it from getting all through the gardens. If it's not too old though, I do this:

How "old" are we talking here? Or do you just have no further use for the 2Stroke? If you've still got 2-stroke equipment, just tip the old stuff in when you mix up a new batch.
Thanks!
Matto :)

				Hi,
I have run 2 stroke fuel through a 4 stroke mower on odd occasions.
Doesn't seem to cause any grief, and that is at 25:1.
cheers

Where I live if you take it down the local park on a Friday night you can dispose of it pretty quickly.......

				Woof wood.
You will improve at flicking lit matches let me tell you!

tip half in your tank next time you go to fill up. 2.5L of 50:1 2 stroke won't even be noticed stale or not, especially in a 150L capacity tank.

Gday i put it in my commodore!! I dont care how old it is. Its a lean mix and it wont hurt.. If ya tanks a bit low top it up a bit with some good stuf....ps my 4 stroke mower been running  on the stuff for 15 years!!     Phil

You can also use any vegetable oil in the mix. There are also numerous wetting agents on the market if you want to break the bank, were I work we sell up to 10 different types!
