The big question -- fluffy dice, or bowling hat on rear shelf ???

Bowling hat with a "I LOVE LAWN BOWLS" sticker.

Ha ha ha.... you're on it.

Spent most of today trying to make room for more spare parts.
Fitted up a drag radial to a rim I had..... sits pretty nice on a 7" rim too.
Another load of spares to come home tomorrow.
Pickup the Skyline front end on Wednesday.

Go for it because I’m just amazed at your ingenuity working out what new parts will fit an old car. Plus looking forward to seeing the finished product.

It's a bit of hit n miss sometimes working out what will fit, but, at the end of the day, its all just nuts n bolts and imagination.
Surrounding yourself with the right people is huge part of it too.
Footy Shorts Shane will have plenty of input..... as will my mate Dougie.
Both will be offered a run down the quarter too..... sort of the least a person could  do huh.

I'd known for a while, about the Commodore struts being a goer in the Zephyrs, however, talking to the right folks, is where the R31 front end came in from.
It will need to be changed from 4 to 5 stud, but i'm hoping we can use the late model 2002 onwards Falcon units. (I know AU Ford will work though)

When I built the V8 Datsun 1200, one of the highlights, was finding out, a VH Valiant wagon rear handbrake cable fitted like it was made for it.
I bought it from the wreckers to shorten for a template to make one off, thinking it would waaaay too long standard.
Picture the length of the Val.
Picture the length of the Datto. (handbrake between the seats)

I hooked it all up, and when it went on, and the adjustment ended up slap bang perfect, I just couldn't believe it.

Sometimes, it can be smallest thing, but if it works, it makes ya happy.
(Even the wife says that)  :-[  :'(

Well, another load of spare parts home and unloaded.
Another mint R/H front guard and the bonnet is a cracker.

The old Zephyr front struts and disc brake set up.... bugger me, i'd forgotten how friggin heavy there were.
The entire Nissan front will weigh in less I think.

You have got to be fukkin kidding..... No Bird, no spinners..... ya friggin Nimrod.

I might end up running chrome smoothies however.
I was given four 15 x 7's and the drag radial sits ok on a 7" rim. (I was going to use 8's)

Going to order a pair of 15 x 5's for the front, once the front end is installed.

Speaking of which, I now have an R31 Nissan Skyline complete front end to install.
OH, they are a near straight up, bolt in fit.... they said..... bullShit.

Bit more, well, a lot more work really to install, but I did score a template for the location holes.
I have to make an adaptor for the strut to mount in the tower, there is some minor mods to be done to the R31 strut bar mounts as well.

All can be done, just going to take longer.
I'm expecting it will be a few weeks before I can even consider the BA or AU disc's and calipers.

These front ends are scarce too.... The young guy I got it off, only sold it to me because it was going into a "cool project" as he described it.
Oh, and the fact I coughed up $650 too.  :D

It came out of a fairly decent car, pretty low mileage car and all that crap.

When I left his house, he had an R31, complete car sitting in the driveway minus a front end.
An engine crane had the engine strapped to it, so it wouldn't drop out like a bag of Shit, only fresh air was between it and the driveway.

I hope his engine crane doesn't creep, the motor is still connected to the radiator and all the other crap.

Day off today, it's the Cool Car Crafters International Picnic Day today.
Got an old drag racing mate dropping in today.

I saw the photos of the donor car today for the first time......  :cup:

What a ripper, and only 226,000klm on the clock, so it should be a great rebuilder.

The ol Pensioner Performance Zephyr is coming together nicely as far as the parts list goes.

Rebuild? upgraded ARP headstuds, oil pump gears and valve springs, then shove 22psi into it and you are looking at close to 700rwhp. Still with the factory head gasket!

Getting a set of Spool rods and pistons in it as well, as well a good head gasket and the bits you mentioned.

These Barra motors are just freak of a thing. Me gunning for 700 hp at the wheels, is just a doodle huh.

Yep the fact you can get a wrecker engine for next to nothing, add forced induction and easily make big power is pretty crazy, there is a reason they lasted well over 1 mill km's in the Taxies though.

We really do want to street drive the nasty little sucker too, as well as race the wheels off it at Willowbank from time to time.

If i'm honest with myself, it should see, maybe 5,000 to 8,000 klm during a year on the street.
Throw in a Drag Challenge 3 day weekend..... 3 days back to back racing and 750klm.
If we headed south (2,000 to 3,000 round trip) for a 5 day Drag Challenge meet, there's another 5 days back to back racing and around 1,500 to 2,000 klm over those 5 days of racing too.

This is why, the engine will be fully redone with some good bits in it.
I just need to know, its not going to dismantle itself during a pass.

I can't have Country Lane Classic Cars and Pensioner's Performance getting a bad name.
