;D ;D

C'mon......you're 1/2 done now...I reckon if you got your arse into gear it would be finished by January 2022.  ;D ;D

That's a bit harsh, isn't it?

I bought some really trick gear today.

Triangulated traction bars for the mighty Z.
Some sliders, to do away with the shackles on the back of the springs.
A wicked anti roll bar (still in the box, so no pic) to make the car launch nice and flat.

My wallet still has smoke coming of it, but it was worth it.
Dumb question, but are the sliders kind of like slipper springs (but much better)?

Yes mate.
In place of just a slider plate, these run a bush still, are a captive style set-up and can find their own happy spot.
Surprisingly, they don't really move all the much either.

Then, with the anti roll bar.... the car should leave the line flat and not all torqued up and losing time through the suspension.
It may very well have the front wheels anywhere from 2 inches to 2 feet in the air..... but flat in the rear.

arrrr, the joys of a mix n match car build.

I would like to run, the donor car brake booster and master cyl. if it was going to be possible.

Not a hope in hell on the booster, way to big in diameter.
So, went down the Goldy on Monday to get a 7" single diaphragm booster in black, if the Ford M.cyl will fit it.
(not looking to highlight the brakes, just wanna keep it simple)

NO, not a chance...... Pisser, because the matching master cyl to the 7" booster is pretty ugly.

Alright then, give me a 7 inch chrome booster and matching chrome milled finish master cyl then please.

Oh, we have the master cyl in stock, but no chrome booster.
OK, give me a black booster then please.
No, we don't have any 7 inch boosters in stock at present. :-[

Would you still like the master cyl sir.
No, as it needs to match, so I just bought some other stuff I required and got a credit on some stuff i'd bought but didn't use from 2 weeks back.

Started ringing around, prices varied all over the shop to as much as nearly twice the price.

I had a look at a 2000 BMW unit, but too big.
Found a Gemini booster that had merit, but would need to adapt a 1 inch bore master cyl to it.
Considered a Subaru unit, but same again on the master.

Then found a mob in the Covid Capital that had the 7 inch booster, in chrome and in stock.
It was $5 cheaper than the one that couldn't be supplied on the Goldy, but i copped $20 in postage. (I can live with that)
OK, i'll take the booster and the master cyl in chrome please...... (standard, they just look like crap.... really ugly)

Oh, sorry sir, nil stock on the master cyl.
OK, just send the booster please.

Ring the mob on the Goldy, and get the master put on hold until Dougie picks it up Monday.

Arrrr, the joys of a mix n match car build.

Seeing Footy Shorts Shane today, to pick up the brain box for the engine, a line lock for the brakes and give him a speedo drive I sourced for his Monaro.

What's a line lock.... at the flick of a switch, it will shut off the rear brakes while i'm doing a burnout prior to a run.
No sense burning the crap out of the rear pads, as i'll lightly ride the brakes during a skid to keep  the speed of the skid in check.

The Zephyr was swung around the other way yesterday and on Monday, i'll start making some more templates for the firewall.
Then I can start cutting up some sheet ready to be welded back in.

Oh, and there is still the pool to finish.... i'll start on doing the sealer job on my hairline cracks.
I might work out the plan for the decking too I think, as I need at least some of that done before the pool fence goes up.
I won't fill the pool prior to the fence either...... nil chance of someone falling in and drowning..... but.... safety first.

I was 60 years old in May just gone.

I've done 10 barrow loads of timber and crap to the burn pile this morning.
Gotta clean up around the work site (Pool) so i'm not tripping over myself.

Oh hell yeah.

Footy Shorts Shane is pretty involved with the car too.
Rang me the other day and said.....
"My calculations are, you're going run 8:70 @ 156 mph."  ;D
Scott from Gazzard Brothers Racing, reckons it will piss in an 8:80 @ 155mph.

Either way, it looks like we are headed for 8 second quarters.... can't wait.

Now, here is an interesting little titbit.

Looking at the entries for 235 Radial Blown for the upcoming Drag Challenge Weekend..... End of Nov. @ Willowbank

The fastest car is a Torana hatch @ 8:63. a Datsun 1200 wagon @ 8:80 and a couple of others who can or will be fast.

If we can string everything together on the day, I would expect us to a top 5 contender or better.
I wish we were waaaaay closer to finished than we are..... Drag Challenge 2021.... bring it on.

Caught up with Shane yesterday.....

What a legend.... WE now have the following bits.  :cup:

The brain box to run the whole shebang, brand spankers Autronic unit and still in the box. (Aussie made too)
A couple of new Aeroflow 90 degree polished intercooler pipes still in their wrappers.
A handful of new clamps to suit.
A near new, but used, Sun tacho.... really ol skool look.... friggin perfect for it.
A near new, but used, MSD shift light.... again, an ol skool chubby look one.  :cup:

Man o man, he sure looks after me.
The car is booked in to go to Shane on the 30th of this month now too.
That's when we will suss out the space required for the plenum intake setup and the pipes to suit the turbo.
We'll rattle the u bolts off the ol diff, and lift the housing out.
Then we can set the distance we need for the new diff to be shortened and Shit.
Then we can bung the ol housing back in, whack the Z car back on the trailer and home again.

Ummm, you bastards do read this thread I hope...... I still have doubts about it.

This is the gear I got yesterday.

How cool is the tacho.

Shane, on a quick think, has donated around $7,000 worth of gear to the cause now.
Hard to thank someone enough for that sort of thing.

I sure as hell hope he enjoys driving and racing it from time to time.

Ummm, you bastards do read this thread I hope...... I still have doubts about it.

Yep still reading and bloody interesting it is too....

The whole things highlights a couple of laws, adages or old charters.

The amount of work will expand to fit the available time and resources (usually money). This one sorta mirrors the "Shed Rule" - the amount of stuff you have will expand to fit the shed no matter the size of the shed.

80% of the task will take 20% of the resources (time, stuff, etc) and 20% of the work will take 80% of the resources...
