Same as the first one, but not looking so much like a race.
More like granddad's car, so I can walk quietly but carry a fukkin big stick.

Well well well!
I've been keen to pass this build info onto a mate of mine who's been building, re-building Zephrs since before he had a license.
Small world, I only got halfway thru the description and he finished my sentence and said your name!
And that you had called him about it!
Him being Bruce M.
I would definitely be keen to see this in the flesh!
Cheers

Ol Brucey..... Yeah, i was chasing him regarding the Nissan Skyline front end.

Bruce put me onto the guy I got the car off.
The one he mentioned had sold, but Neil had this one, so home she goes.

HOLY CRAP...

I started to bring the spare parts home that came with the car today.
12 doors, 2 front guards, 4 grilles, 2 sets of tail lights, 3 front apron panels, a brand new set of spats, a tailshaft loop, the rear seat and around 20 or so various door cards/trims, some other assoc bits n pieces.
Still to come, 10 front windscreens, 8 rear windscreens, 14 boxes of "stuff", a bonnet, a front seat and a million pieces of chrome trim and stuff.
I can't say I saw a front and rear bumper yet, but most likely there.

I ordered the number plates yesterday KQQL 59 (Mooneyes themed with the 2 Q's.)
The windscreen cavities are all taped with race tape and black plastic, so we don't rip the hood lining out on the trip home on Saturday.

Man, i'm stuffed today.

Makes ya wonder... don't it.

I think I may have sourced a R31 Nissan Skyline front end from a 89,000klm car this afternoon too.
This will give me the power rack and pinion steering and bigger front disc rotors.
The guy will take $650, which is a bargain for me.
Fingers crossed on this one.

I wonder if there's a 'Camper Trailer Rebuild' thread on the 'Street/Strip Jalopy Build Forum'?

Our "Drag Challenge" contender is in the shed.

Stuff me sideways, you should see how many more spares there are to come home.
I counted the windscreens today, just for the hell of it..... 11 fronts and 11 rears.

The car itself, has a ripper shell, but some aspects of it, suggest its been off the road for longer than first thought.
The last rego it had, was Sept. 1970..... I was 10 years old.....  ;D

It has passed through 2 owners to me, but neither had done much.
One guy attempted some repairs and just rooted a door in the process.... bit of a dill me thinks. ???
The next guy, stripped it down and did some great work on it, before selling it to me.

Now its up to me, to stick a heap of horsepower up its blurter and back onto the road.   :cup:

A few pics to look at.

This is an R31 Nissan Skyline front end in a MK3 Zephyr.

Just a space saver on there at the moment.

Being a camping forum, I wasn't too sure if a dedicated thread was right or wrong with the car build thing.
It sort of evolved from the "what did you do in your shed", thread.

I realise, only those with an interest in these sorts of things would even read it.

So, in an effort, to not bore the tits off everyone, i'm just going to do a post every Friday I think with the progress from that week.
Maybe, just like a general overview of the week.

With a build of this caliber, sometimes, the tiniest thing, can make the builder all warm and fuzzy whilst no one else gives a crap and vice versa.

So, from here on in, it'll be a Friday thing with the odd pic or two.

X2. Go for it Kev, this is a General section where anything and everything goes. There are many other sections and threads for camper trailer and camping issues.
Having owned more than one of each of the four models of Zephyrs in my younger days i am looking foward to this build.
Cheers

if a firewood thread can go 30 odd pages, you'll be safe to go 300...

Thanks, Kev. Gee, some blokes on here should lighten up. Talk about 'High Horses'! Isolation getting to you, perhaps? :-*
All I was getting at is that there are different sections for 4 x 4s, Fishing, Tucker and wait for it, a 'Camper Trailer Build' section.
If there was a 'Vehicle Build' section, anyone who was interested in Jeeper's Reno, which I am and will follow events, could go straight to that section.
I reckon it would also cover other members restorations, such as MarkGU's build of his charity run vehicle. It would mean direct access to the topic at hand. If Jeepers or anyone else doing restoration, doesn't post for a week or two, the existing thread will get shuffled down the order in 'General Chat'.
Instead of having, perhaps 3 or 4 different restos threads scattered across the forum, they'd all be under the one section.
Just my thoughts.

I was more concerned with rattling on like a noisy tappet and annoying the Shit outta everyone.

Go for it because I’m just amazed at your ingenuity working out what new parts will fit an old car. Plus looking forward to seeing the finished product.
