Nice little win today.....
When I first had this thing on the go, the plan to just run it as a footbrake launch.
Keep it a bit doughy over the first part of the track, then plough the sucker home in the second half of the track.
BUT..... As F. S. Shane pointed out, some tracks, the drag challenge thing uses, are 1/8 mile strips.
The thing would be a slug over the 1/8th.
So, to make the little turd perform, we are using a transbraked T400 trans.
With a transbrake, it locks the gearbox in 1st and reverse at the same time.
You take ya foot off the brake and launch the car from a button on the steering wheel.
That means, bringing the revs up to around 5,500 on the rattle box, get some boost happening and then.... lets get the fukk outta Dodge.
In the 1st set up, 3:3 to 3:5 diff gears would be required to try and get it moving.
I can now go slightly higher in the gearing, which will drop the hwy revs just a tad more.
But the big plus, is the little turd should haul arse over the 1/8 mile now.
Who knows, it might even have a little wheel dangling going on during the launch now too.
Because, Shane will be doing the diff soon, I was lying awake last night at midnight thinking, where the fukk an I going to get some 3:25 diff gears.
I figured the donor car would have 3:0 gears at best, maybe even the Shitty ol 2:78's.
Then I got to thinking, if this ute is rated at a 1 tonne payload...... just maybe.....

Up on stands, cover off and fukkin BINGO...... 3:23 diff gears.... I haven't been this excited since i was a little girl.
I nearly have the second strut mount finished now too..... moving along nicely.
I might spend a few hours in the morning digging out some more of the pool, then hook into the Z car again.
I think I can feel the purchase of a Harrop Engineering truetrac centre coming up next week.
