Wow, i'd forgotten how much homework there is to do when doing one of these builds.
The diff, will be one of the first things to be done, along with a new front suspension set up.
Just so much more stuff available now, than there was back in 1990 when I did the mighty Datto 1200.
Harrop Engineering do a wicked looking TrueTrac 31 spline unit that should suit our needs to a tee.
Lots of folks would just go a 9 inch diff and be done with it.
Such a massive amount of extra weight, which we can well do without.
So, we will be running a Borg Warner diff.
Ratios available are 3:27 or 3:45. (no aftermarket ratios are vailable)
Of course, the 3:27 will be close enough for our desired 3:30 I want.
We need to sort the diff, to sort the tyres, to sort the clearance to see if I need to tub it.
I'm really hoping, the 235/60 x 15 Drag Radials will slip up the bum with no mods.
If we have to cut and widen the factory wheel tubs, now is the time.
The other cool thing, is the front end.
I'll be getting some photos and measurements on Thursday of a very cool set up.
A Nissan Skyline R31 front end, SHOULD be near bolt in fit.
This gives me a decent size disc brake rotor on the front.
Because i'm using either a 205 or 195 front tyre, I may not need power steering.
The Nissan front though, opens up the option of a power rack.
Some Nissan Pulsars, use an electric power steering pump too.
Oh well, bit of a shed re-arranging day for today, so the Zephyr goes into its hidey hole.
Parts run tomorrow and Thursday coming up.
Day off on Friday, bring the Zephyr home Saturday.
I'm enjoying this being retired gig....

Stoopid wife.... making me build cars like this..... Bad Wife.....

OH, and 1 hiccup, which i'm waiting on info for.
Will the IHRA governing body, allow me to run 9's with a bench seat..... they friggin better.
