Heritage Second to None
The cultural and natural heritage that Carnarvon Gorge offers is second to none. The remnant rainforest in the side gorges is lush with Carnarvon Fan Palms (Livistona nitida), ancient Macrozamia cycads and ferns. Carnarvon Gorge is home to the worlds largest living fern the King Fern (Angiopteris evecta). The main walking track is enveloped by towering gum trees, among them the northern most Sydney Blue Gum found in Australia.

The Art Gallery
The Art Gallery is one of the best examples of stencil art in Australia with over two thousand engravings, ochre stencils and freehand paintings. The Art Gallery is a 62 metre long sandstone wall and is a fragile reminder of Aboriginal people’s long and continuing connection to the Gorge.

Scenic Helicopter Flights
From $99 for 10 minute flight (min 2 passengers)

Signature 20 minute scenic flight $195 per person (min 2 passengers)

Taking to the air is a truly spectacular way to see the Mooleyamber Section of Carnarvon National Park. We recommend the signature 20 minute flight which takes you over the historic cattle station Bandana to see the grazing country then off on an exhilarating tour over the untouched and dramatic escarpments of Mooleyamber. A sight to behold, an unforgettable experience.

If you are a bit fit, they would highly recommend planning your Carnarvon Gorge experience around this very exclusive tour. Going where no one else does, QLD National Parks have allowed only the most experienced guides in Carnarvon Gorge – Australian Nature Guides* - to carefully guide you through the most exclusive and private places in Carnarvon Gorge. This is sure to be an experience to remember. Perfect for those who have an interest in fauna and flora, have visited before, and for those that love doing it a bit differently to the rest. These trips are tailored to the interests of small groups with no two trips being the same. There is no self-guided option in this part of Carnarvon National Park. Mark did you find that it is a windy spot, that's what people we talked to said.    We aren't self sufficient so that counts us out,, the national park spots were good but only open in school holidays.

Alan

We didn’t find it windy when we were there...but it is on top of a hill so I could imagine it would be if there is strong wind around.....but it does have amazing views from up there....in every direction.

Worth starting to think about potential timeframes/numbers ?

Van parks are starting to advertise opening after June 13.

Wife and I were taking about a shake down trip after the fitout of our camper...

Carnarvon came up as a discussion.

Thanks for the thread, an option I wasn’t aware off.

We're heading to Sandstone Park this Saturday, the 5th. Planning to get there on the 8th, for 5 days and then have a butchers around Expedition NP with a camp at Lake Nuga Nuga, Lonesome and Beilba sections, perhaps.

Friend camped at Nuga Nuga a few days ago. Said it was a beautiful place, even with snakes swimming in the lake! His wife got 4 ticks while there. Also said a mice plague there at that time, fortunately none got into his off-road hybrid van.
