Never buy an inkjet. Go for a laser everytime. Ink in an inkjet is dearer then the most expensive champagne...
At home I have a brother colour laser printer. Laser refills about $50 for 4 off ebay. Work a treat. At work we use mainly HP lasers.
Cheers, John.

I still have a collection of tools with those inconvenient things called power leads that may not get used but have lasted an age of time.

ALL my tools have a lead. Especially with a drill, I might use it 4 times in one weekend, then maybe not again for 3mths. Suits me  not worrying if it was fully charged when I needed it the most if it was a battery drill.
The other stuff...heat gun, sander, angle grinder, jigsaw etc might only get used once a year or even once every 2 years !

If I was a tradesman on the tools, then it would be battery all the way ..

For basic home use not a lot of difference. My HP envy4500 is running fine on just the one cartridge ( dark coloured...used to be called black !! )  ;D.
One decent size cartridge from ebay ( $20 ) or from woolies ( $25 ) seems to last approx 1 or 2 yrs.
It knows the ebay cartridge is not genuine, but still lets it play.

It has taken me 4 years to get to where I now only have 3 tools that need 240V.
The time saved not running out leads, packing them up afterwards.

Winning ;)

I replaced my printer/scanner combo when it died with the same model but newer version. Printer works fine but scanner doesn’t, doesn’t even know it’s there on the LAN. Hmmm. Downloaded and updated drivers, now it can see its there but says it’s disconnected? When I unplug it it disappears from the Menu, plug it in it reappears, but says it’s disconnected? Farkin things. Came with a CD but the laptop doesn’t have a CD drive haha going round in circles

Hi,
I went to a laser recharge place and asked which brand/model they provided the most refills for.
Got an HP LaserJet pro MFP M225dw on their recommendation.
Very happy with it, and Mrs loves the scan/copy functions.
Cheers

Chester,
Did you ask the Anethesiologist for a discount!
My sister with an upcoming hip replacement op did.
They came back with a "Ok "  no gap fee charged.
They did ask if it was due to "financial stress"
Of course she said yes

A $500 question!

with regards to printers...

i have purchased a small, B/W laser printer for most jobs and then have a inkjet multifunction device for other stuff...

have saved bucketloads on ink since...

also, i have found inkdepot.com.au to be excellent for getting ink at a good price and very quick delivery, even during covid...

Yes. And ask the surgeon as well. The hospitals aren't usually willing to budge.

Agree, it is not a very well thought out law, however, what was old mate in the white Hyundai doing, stopping completely. Admittedly, it is unlikely the B double would have stopped in time anyway, but the dick in the front car should be held accountable to some extent????

That's why I go public..... if its urgent Shit that will kill you, you go straight in.
I did wait 12 months for my op, but it was FRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

No sense wasting money on myself when I have such needy dependents. (Fleetwood and the Zephyr)
Same reason I never had kids....... its all about ME.  ;D

Good logic. I have private insurance, but the only time I use it is for 5 yearly colonoscopies. Sure, it costs the stinking $500 excess, but I'm going to have the best bloke doing the procedure...not some apprentice at the public hospital poking a thing up my coit and maybe puncturing my bowel !! :'(

How many have actually died or been injured since the rule was bought in?
How many police and emergency workers died before they bought in the rule?

Serious questions as I don't know the stats. But even though I hear of plenty of people complaining of this law, I have yet to see any news articles about people being injured or killed.

In contrast, I used to hear regular news articles of police and emergency workers getting killed or injured, struck by vehicles travelling at high speed. By regular I mean a few times per year.

I may also be influenced by paying more attention to those articles due to having previously worked as an enforcement officer with vehicles wizzing past at 110km/h, a metre from your backside.

Now I work in the area of OHS where industry is scared WorkSafe (or your state's particular enforcement body) will take you off to jail if a forklift doing 5km/h comes within 5m of a pedestrian.

Or they start to build motorways with a continuess full width breakdown lane rather than a breakdown bay every few KMs. The M7 is bad for that.

Pretty safe to say there was a few injuries out of this lot.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-11-21/reduced-speed-limits-around-emergency-vehicles-under-review/11721152

NSW issued just short of 1,000 fines for not slowing to 40km/h in the 12 month trial period.

But even though NSW have changed the laws to a somewhat reasonable expectation to slow as much as possible and leave safe space for emergency vehicles, clearly this is not understood by the general motoring public and these incidents with people basically stopping on the highway are still happening.

The other states still like seeing people getting rear ended apparently.

Once a rule is not black and white anymore 'slow down as much as possible' (My commodore will slow down quite well compared to many cars if I want to slow down as much as possible - etc  people will act like this. Who says I slowed down as much as possible...

There is no perfect answer. And as Bird said as soon as it is no longer black and white, it is useless

The 40 kph is there because that is roughly the tipping point between life and death for a pedestrian (or cyclist)

Prior to the law there would always be a prang with rubber neckers to bust looking at another prang.

What happen to being vigilant and watching the road in front you?
It is not hard to scan the road ahead, prepare for the unexpected, keep a safe distance between you and the vehicle in front.
It does my head in to see motorists tailgating, especially in wet weather, they have no chance of stopping, this goes for heavy vehicles as well.
Problem is, leave a gap and it is an open invitation to overtake.

Problem is, leave a gap and it is an open invitation to overtake.

The local BMW motorcycle distributor also ran rider training (for licensed riders, not learners). The theory instructor at the first of these I went to told us about an experiment they carried re the scenario you quoted above Hairs. On their first run they went from Brisbane to the Gold Coast, about 90km on dual carriageway as it was back then, and took advantage of every opportunity to overtake, squeeze between vehicles etc. I can’t remember the actual time it took them, but that isn’t the important bit. On their second run, same day, same direction, same route, they sat back, stayed in their lane where practicable, and allowed others to pull into their lane, dropping back to keep a safe distance from the vehicle that just pulled in front of them.

NETT time lost by using the second option was under 5 minutes. They said basically, if your can’t afford To lose 5 minutes in an hour of travelling, you should reconsider riding until time is not so critical  ;D ;D
