Touch wood and fingers crossed, our local diesel is and has been @ 142.9 for about 12mths. The best part, apart from consistency, is that the servo was ‘renewed’ (all new tanks and bowser infrastructure) about 2 years ago. It has a high turnover and the cheapest price in town for ‘any’ fuel, so no concerns about contaminants caused by old tanks, etc.

Strange the local Shell is always most expensive around here, but yesterday 1.78.... today 1.35 for petty... diesel is like yours, hasn't moved in a long long time.

Same, Maclean NSW.
$152.9 for over 6 months(BP)
Was $1.479 for nearly 9? Months before.
Some say it was because of the H/way upgrade between Grafton & Woodburn, I don't know. The $/barrel had fluctuated by $5/barrel in that time.
Hmmm

I've noticed since the NSW State Govt. mandated that servo's have to report price changes within 15minutes of making the change to the https://www.fuelcheck.nsw.gov.au/app website that prices have got a bit sharper locally - I certainly use it when traveling around and double check the price locally before filling up. No difference to checking the price of stuff relative to Snowys etc instead of just assuming that BCF is cheap.

They are our supplier as well.
I had received an email a week ago stating that the feedin was going to be 2 cents less per kw & what we pay for power ws rising 2 cents a kw.
I'm thinking this is on top of that price rise.
I wait and see what the next invoice brings.
I’m with EA and yesterday received an email telling me that electricity and gas charges are going to rise (slightly), and the solar feed in tariff was being reduced by 2 cents which is double the rise in electricity costs.

Time to look around for a new deal one with a good feedin tariff.

We all know how difficult it can be to get into see a specialist so I was just a little gobsmacked when we were advised by a number of medical personnel that we need to apply for NDIS funding for the wife’s on going treatment etc, only to find that NDIS give you twenty eight days to make an application with all supporting evidence from your specialist, GP and allied health care professionals.
No chance, on an extension already and I’m just about to ring and get a further extension.
Why the need for a time frame of twenty eight days, when they take a week to even get the paperwork to you.

I wonder whether video evidence would help, bad night when it was stinking hot last week, eight minutes to get out of bed and walk aided less than 20 feet. Not always like that but **** it’s heartbreaking.

I have been using a auto sparkie for the work on my 4wds for some time, but I recently got a quote to get my truck wired for 12v. Install included 2 batteries plus isolator and came to over $3k!! Quoted over $700 for a BC-DC charger [cost on ebay for the same item $540], cabling was double what I could buy it locally, THEN they included 5 core wiring [not sure why as the tug had already been wired!!!]. When I questioned them about the high cost of components, their reply was "Take it or Leave it" So, with a mate I have wired the truck for waay less than $1k - that includes a couple of slabs of beer!

The clincher was when I discussed wiring the Breakaway monitor.. it became apparent that last time they wired it, they failed to actually wire it to the van!!!! So I have been driving around without actually monitoring my van's breakaway battery... They must have wired it to my crank battery!

Long story shot, I won't be using [or recommending] them again!

Animal extinction?? Bring them to Queensland and take them for a tour. There are more dead Roos on the side of the road than these fires have taken out, and this is a permanent situation >:(.

Yep, one of the consequences of drought, unfortunately.

The Bloody media,
Fires here, fires there. That's what the media want you to know.

Hey, the drought continues,
Just heard that Stanthorpe has run out of water.
It is costing the Qld government $800 000.00 a month to truck in water just to this communitty.
Let alone those on the land.

This drought is real people, think about that.
The residents of Stanthorpe are not alone, many communities are facing this realty.

I was in Yamba today, there were people watering farking grass, front lawns.
Don't have a problem watering vegie gardens,
But farken grass.

And I really don't give a fark if you have a bore.
You are still lowering the water table which is not a infinite resource.

FTFY.... I'm dubious of some of the bore water in use signs around here...

Certainly agree that the drought is being forgotten about as there's been a bit of rain as well as the distraction of the fires.

We were talking about it at work, and there's going to be some very thirsty trees now, and that'll have a big effect on the run off into catchments for about 12-18months, so don't expect the Sydney dams that have been surrounded by fires to fill anytime soon.

The next big problem is up on the Tablelands there's been a flurry of dam expansion etc, so that'll hold the water up the top of the range before it gets to drain down (and the government have directed money to be used for that work...) when it does rain properly.

They are going to have to truck mega lots of water into the fire affected zones too. All the water tanks will have to be cleaned out before reuse. Including town supply tanks. And the catchment area for the dams will be rooted too until they get a bit of regrowth. Alot of crap will be washed down into the dams. With a country already struggling with water supply I think it's going to get worse before it gets better.

We're screwed  :'(
Heard on the radio/telly today that the smoke from all the fires(qld through to SA), the crap that is in it, is worse than the asbestos problem was.
That's a pretty scarey situation.
1) I do feel for those that have respiratory isuses, it must be hell.
2) There are calls for Air monitoring stations to be placed around the country, so people can be told if it is safe to go out.
3) Who is going to foot the cost of that  ???, yep, us.
4) Compensation, watch as the claims roll in, who is going to foot the cost of that  ???, yep us.
5) Already in the Clarence Valley, insurance mobs are jacking renewals if you have the 2460 post code, there are 30 odd villages that share Grafton's post code, I live in one, we were not effected by direct fire(came bloody close, if it wasn't for the local RFS making stand, we're toast), our insurance has risen.
6) I wish some would keep politics out of this whole debate, including the bloody media that drives head lines.
7) Some people need to take responsibility for their own actions/safety, I get it that fire is an unpredicable beast, but, some of you made your bed.
8) If you are instructed by a Fire authority to move, bloody do it.
9) Why is it every now and then a bloody Mo hair diecides to pop out and tickle the forheck out of you nose when you don't have a mirror or able to grab it and pluck the farker

  time now.
Just had to get that off my chest.
If I've got it wrong, let me know.

The installation of sensors using some of the LoRaWAN or IoT networks that are in existence is really quite cheap - in fact you can build a small unit on Arduino or a Raspberry Pi.

Had the same conversation with Shannon's the other day as their staff member was giving me a heads up on premium rises.

The problem is the broad postcode areas used in Australia; in the UK a postcode is shared by ~12-20 properties, but there are broader areas when you look at the first section. Wikipedia on it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postcodes_in_the_United_Kingdom.  If there was subdivision after 2460, say a new set like 2460-xxxx, it would increase the granularity and the associated risk profiles.
