pretty much why we cant compete...

bought a set of Comfort Craftsmen boots for my 40th birthday, but got them from Nungar Traders:

http://nungar.com.au/catalog/index.php/cPath/48

fairly hefty price difference.  got my sizing from an RM Williams store then ordered online.

considering how long they last and the ability to be repaired, well worth the money.

Considering you can easily get 10 to 20 years out of one pair, at a $500 purchase price, that’s $50 to $25 a year for a quality pair of Aussie made boots.

I’ve always admired the RM Williams boots but choke at the price.

I’ve been wearing the same Blundstone dress series boot to work daily for the last 5 years that cost me  around $150, still plenty of life left in them yet, I guess that equates to $30 a year to date.

Cheap motoring for a quality pair of boots...

I’ve also got a pair of black Dr Martens that I’ve had for nearly 20 years... still going strong...

When I was in the office full time I was buying a new pair of work shoes approximately every 12 months and spending between $80 to $120 each time.

About 5 years ago I bit the bullet and forked out $485 for a pair of black RM and they are just worn in. Then 2 years ago I bought a brown pair which are just like new.

I’m now working from home twice a week, but I judging on how well these boots are wearing, I’m pretty confident they will see me to retirement and beyond. But it is hard forking out the money with the initial purchase.

Telstra will soon not be accepting payments via bpay, only accepting Direct Debit and in person payments at AusPost

Not overly keen on handing them my bank details...

Australia Post, it just keeping better and better every day

But at least it was handed out nice & fairly & evenly ::)

"$97 million in bonuses ...

34,500 frontline workers, including posties and people in processing centres, received "thank you" payments of $600

Contractors, which includes drivers, as well as people that run Australia Post stores, received gift vouchers of $500.

Australia Post workers in the sales department received nearly $10 million in bonuses through what is called the "sales incentive scheme"."

Which is all nice, but

"2,500 workers who hold the title of either general manager, head of department or senior manager, at a cost of more than $60 million" which = $24000 each >:(

Hi,
The Australian owners of the Lucas Mill portable saw mill had their design copied, even down to the instruction book. They took the Chinese factory to a Chinese court and made a successful prosecution.
Cheers

Article from a month ago but I only spotted it this morning ...

They lifted footage straight out of two US movies!

& we think they're going worry about the patent held by a piddly little (sorry, fellas :-*) Aussie caravan maker ??? >:(

RM Williams are Australian owned once again!!

They are a very premium brand, prices for a set of boots is about $600. I don't think that will change too much, it's all about expanding the market OS.

Not just us that thinks they're too many $$$ ::) ;D

And that's absolute horse puckey, as a well known colonel would say. $600.00 for a pair of off the rack boots? I'd expect tailor made for that sort of price. Freakin price gouging to the max.

And they're bloody laughin sides workin boots.. I got a pair of good quality leather boots, hand made, tailor made, in Malaysia back in the 80's for about $AU 60.00 with two free matching leather belts thrown in.. Yeah, different economy and 40 years ago... but 10X the price?

4.2L TD Toyota Troopy, (Clarke's Country Camper Trailer, softfloor.) sold it and bought a Avan Ray small poptop caravan. I miss being able to acces the little tracks off into the scrub.
