Ha ha....sometimes a bloke has worked all his life, retired with some super, and spent most of it on the 700ft van and 200 series....but his lifestyle hasn't changed because he isn't really rich, except for his 2 new toys, so the thought of spending 50 bucks a night just to sleep is the same as some of those hippies in the Hiace vans.

But wiki camps is only $7.99, so mostly no need to camp next to a noisy truck on the side of a busy highway..

Having spent a heap of the super  on the toys maybe his adviser told him he better watch  spending or he will run out of capital to provide income for fuel etc. You can only save so much towing at 80kmh.

Like the old adage....if you owe $100 you're a bludger, if you owe $100,000 you're a business man, if you owe $1,000,000 you're a tycoon.

The bank and the tax office almost never have a problem. A mate of mine had a call during the GFC giving him five days to pay 20 million. He was an apartment developer on the coast. No bank was lending any money and he went bankrupt along with a divorce. Sad thing was he had sold more than half of the unfinished apartments already.

I've got a spare laptop with win10 on it ....thanks to help from Drew XT.

I tried to install win10 on my win7 laptop, but then had to spend $100 or more to restore it back because it was one that didn't play with win10.
So it will be win7 until it dies/retires/blows up/or ceases to work.

Put Linux Mint on it, it'll go for another 10 years.
4.2L TD Toyota Troopy, (Clarke's Country Camper Trailer, softfloor.) sold it and bought a Avan Ray small poptop caravan. I miss being able to acces the little tracks off into the scrub.

I like Linux Mint, but I'm running pure Ubuntu for the most part.  Older hardware seems to run it a  little better then Mint.

Microsoft is extending updates on Win 7 for corporate customers for another 3 years.
As they are released, those updates WILL find themselves on the dark web, or even available as torrents, to keep Win 7 users like me happy for a while yet.

Bugger. Work pushed us all onto Win10 before Christmas in a big hurry. What pain in the neck that was. Now it seems it wasn't that urgent.

Indeed, a copy past from the article.

In July, Microsoft said that approximately 184 million commercial PCs still ran Windows 7 worldwide (although the number did not include systems in China, an omission Microsoft did not explain). But Microsoft's number - a tally derived from PC telemetry - was just a fraction of the latest estimate calculated by Computerworld using data from analytics vendor Net Applications. Computerworld's number for August: 378 million Windows 7 business PCs.
