Well, apparently a male Liberal party leader is far more empathetic than a female Labour party leader. Strange times indeed!

Could be said not the first time that has happened, just the name she used was different

the 343 firefighters who ran towards their job and never returned,

the 8 Paramedics who heard their last call,

the 2566 who never made it home that day,

and the uncounted who have passed on from the effects of that day,

My old EH used to overheat a bit going up that road... but that's ridiculous.

BREAKING - Fire overnight destroys main building at Simpson Desert Oasis in Bedourie 🔥🧯?

Fire investigators are on their way to the scene to work out the cause of the blaze.

The petrol station has been destroyed, meaning there is no fuel between Boulia and Birdsville

In that case, rather than having "Fire investigators are on their way to the scene" they'd be better off sending a couple of fuel trucks out there, one carrying petrol, the other diesel, & able to refuel cars!

https://www.parliament.qld.gov.au/work-of-assembly/petitions/petition-details?id=3359

E-petition to install a free 24 hour Tyre Inflation Facility at Rainbow Beach.

Mentioned this a while back & just got sent the response from our Beloved Leaders ::)

Won't go into all of it, but some of the "highlights" ::) include

"Revenue collected under the Recreation Areas Management Act 2006 must be administered for the purposes of the Act, which requires revenue to be expended in managing the recreation areas. Given the popularity of these areas the revenue collected from Vehicle Access Permits are prioritised towards the care and maintenance of the environmental and cultural values that provide the greatest attraction to these unique natural areas."

"the Department of Environment and Science's (the department) educational material advises drivers that they should maintain their tyre pressure within the manufacturers' tyre pressure specifications and highlights the risks associated with reducing tyre pressure beyond manufacturer's recommendations" :o

"The Queensland Government recognises that numerous businesses throughout the Cooloola region, namely service stations, provide a range of vehicle related services including tyre inflation facilities for their customers. The Department of Environment and Science has no plans to provide an alternate, taxpayer funded facility which competes with, or negatively impacts the commercial viability of, these local businesses."

So, all you people who insist on letting your tyres down before driving on the beach, stop it at once! ::) >:D

Dear Fizzie...
It would get smashed within weeks so we wont bother wasting the money, and anyone heading to Fraser will have a compressor anyway, or Darwin wins.

Fixed it for you

Another hard lesson learned ... Leave wild things alone and they will generaly leave you alone ... Fisherman has been injured off Fraser Island by a shark ..
Apparently took a dislike at being caught and bit the hand that fed it ..      https://www.heraldsun.com.au/technology/science/fisherman-bitten-by-shark-off-fraser-island/news-story/1eae938937383d235a47d4aa9786a8d3
