I see it is now advertised on FB for $1890 per couple/vehicle which is not that unreasonable. I was sure it was closer to $4k when I first looked. Anyhow, just wanted to set the record straight.

While I would never do a Tag along trip again my Wife and I did a 16 day Cape York trip 18 years ago which cost us around $3K. (Remember that was a lot of money back then)
For the $3K the company supplied a guide, a cook, 3 meals per day where we ate like kings, permits, barge fees etc. We had to supply own 4wd, fuel, own tent/bedding and happy hour food/drinks.
Our main reason was 18 years ago there weren’t any online maps/Hema and the sign posting at the Cape was virtually non-existent. So having a Guide who knew the area and having access to private land made the trip very relaxing. Also the guide was a master in bush mechanics and they had both a winch on the 4WD and hand winch (Again 18 years ago winches on 4WD’s weren’t cheap)
But is today’s world with heaps on information on the web, access to online mapping, cheap winches/recovery gear and hordes of people at every destination the world of tag alongs is a dying business.
