Got the new to us Hilux,  Knowing it would need a clutch as it was " Low " all cool with that for the price ..  Fast forward 2 1/2 years of normal and  a bit of hard driving and the day arrived it needed to be replaced .. Trying to push a clutch pedal through the firewall to change gears is a bit tough .
You would think a Toyota clutch should last a bit longer than 400.000 Km though . ;D

Smiling that a place 500m from home can do it on monday .. Beats me grubbing around on the ground under the thing with blocks of wood, wobbly jacks and props and a broken body that cant do that sort of work anymore ...
Dropped it off  yesterday arvo  / pick it up Tuesday Done .  8)

https://www.theage.com.au/politics/victoria/pallas-zaps-electric-cars-with-road-charge-20201121-p56gp3.html

Victoria will start taxing electric vehicle owners next year for every kilometre they drive in a budget initiative the state Labor government says will make road charging "fairer" for all motorists.

But Treasurer Tim Pallas says the $30 million expected to be raised by the new charge, over four years, will be more than offset by $45 million spending to boost the take-up of electric vehicles, with charging points across the state and plug-in facilities in new buildings.

So, I went to Toyota yesterday to get the troopy’s 30k service. I had found a $50 gift voucher to use as a discount off the fixed price service and handed it over. It was duly noted on their service record, and I forgot about it. Invoice was for the standard price, which didn’t raise an alarm with me until I was 5 kilometres up the road. Couldn’t be bothered going back as it after hours by that time. I had written it off as one of those things that happen when dealing with a car dealer >:(.
Lo and behold I received a phone call a few minutes ago apologising for the oversight. Card details were requested and a credit put through there and then :cup: :cup: :cup:

Wow, that's tricky!

Can't make out the length of the Quintrex but it looks like a 60 Yammie off the back so it's not small! Obviously no windscreen or anything else above qunnel level though.

& would love to see that boat trailer out to see how it works ???

Wonder how the rear end of the  boat trailer would go stress wise ? With it being supported forwards of the Axle group .. Surely he would have some sort of supports rigged for transporting though ..
Wonder if a section of the boat cavity roof drops down to give more floor space closer to the bed deck ..

Looks like hes has some decent load binders supporting the rear of the boat trailer. Wieght distribution would be another matter. All in all, I like it.

I passed that boat/van thing on the Logan motorway about 4 or 5 years ago, so obviously no long term structural problems with it. As I went past, best I could make out was that all of the chequer plate area on the sides was boat storage under the bed. Inside space would have been a little compromised compared to a normal van, but maybe he's got the best of both worlds?

Just got off the phone with the wife, for the first time in about 7 years she is actually going to get decent holidays over Christmas and we can plan a proper fishing trip this year.

Now fittingly with the conversation above, we’re trying to work out if we just take one car, the boat and tent camp for 3-4 weeks.
Or go in 2 separate cars to tow the boat and the camper.

I guess old mate above doesn’t have to make that choice.... ;)

so obviously no long term structural problems with it.

I'd be worried about the weight of the outboard bouncing around back there, plus what effect the whole boat & trailer has on his stability & braking, but I guess no problem if he's been going this long ???

Touring Qld instead of going o'seas, which is nice enough, but when you get halfway down the page, you may just spot a familiar name ;D

Murphies law says it  would be so .. New clutch kit went in the other day and That Bastard Murphy was right .. Also needed a slave and master cyl  for the clutch .
Fast forwards to today and Im home alone ..    Sweet fit the gear up,  now to bleed it .. Couldnt be arsed rigging up a one man bleeder bottle.
But found this guy the other day while surfing the tube ..
Worked an absolute  charm, Made even better when you can stand there topping up the fluid as you bleed it and the air though .. No more pumping brakes / clutches jumping in and out of the truck to top up fluids   :cup:     https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Af0SYcbzIbo
