Proud Dad moment ;D
Miss 12 came home with an engraved medallion and certificate from the school, which was followed up by an email from the school principal this afternoon. She was one of 4 to receive a school award today 8)
Quote
The Emmaus Medal was awarded to students who displayed the Emmaus spirit by –

?   upholding the values and ethos of the College
?   working well with and cooperating respectfully with College staff
?   acting as a role model for peers and others in all aspects of College life
?   giving generously of their time to the College
?   demonstrating responsibility and respect
?   representing the college and students of Emmaus with pride

Congratulations once again on this fine achievement.

That must be from her mothers side

We were for-warned last week by her teacher that she would be getting an award, but due to covid restrictions parents could not attend the presentation today :'(

I tell ya what, doing around a 180 klm yesterday in the pride of the fleet sure puts a smile on my face.

No work on anything yesterday by me.

Two new front shoes and a wheel alignment for the Fleetwood though.

When It went on the alignment machine, the rear wheels just made it on with mm's to spare.

OH well, back to work on the Zephyr today.

These old vans are way better on Fraser than the new 100K ones......a LOT lighter, which means the old underpowered 4wd's had no trouble towing them.

Not always Fizz ... But this was  three years ago around the end of August, up near Dundaburra .. A line up of fisho's trucks that stretched along the beach for more than a K ..
Lots were doing Drone fishing out in the deeper water, Had bait launchers you name it, as well as the Stand by your man shoulder to shoulder stuff ..
Hard part was, when you found a nice gutter and started to fish the bastards would decend on you like swarm of flies  .. I'd just pack up and walk back to camp and grab a beer .. then watch the Shitfight . It was worse than seagulls chasing a chip .
Two to five blokes to a truck  with  40 rods hanging off it and not even half a clue between them .
I swear there were some dumb Shits that thought they were Biggest baddest  fisho's  alive and they had the complete catalogue of fishing gear to prove it on display .

With all the crap and water out of it now, it was time to clean out my crack this morning ready for some repairs.

Poked, prodded, scrapped and stabbed at it until my crack was clean as a whistle.
Gave it a quick blow and I have to say..... I have the cleanest crack around.   :cup:

So, tomorrow, i'll chase up some concrete crack repair stuff to start resealing that ol swimming pool. ;D

Fantastic fishing photo and fully agree with your comments. .

I use to be in a fishing club and only once have I been in a situation like the above photo and with lots of bait in the water it can get the Taylor into a feeding frenzy, but it's hard work and your either standing beside a bully trying to push you out or someone with no idea getting tangled.

I think I'm a pretty easy going, but nothing worse than finding a nice quite gutter and suddenly someone drives past as you catch a fish so they stop, then another car stops and before you know it your spending more time fixing tangles then actual time fishing. So sometimes it's just easier to pack up and move on.

Taylor is great fresh, but I have no idea why people spend a week at Fraser during the Taylor season and bringing home hundreds of frozen fillets as they turn to sh!t once frozen.  I normally keep one per day to eat, then the rest are thrown back as the fun is the fight bringing them in.

Around 30 years ago, a mate and I were fishing off one of the points on Fraser when a couple of blokes with brand new gear rocked up and proceeded to fish beside us. No problem, we thought and made a bit of room. Bloke #1 cast out and managed to get a bit of a tangle in his line. Yep, a tangle using an Alvey 6500!
Bloke #2 then cast, managing to embed his ganged hooks and pilchard in the flap of the side pocket of my shorts. Whilst I was removing the hooks, my fisho mate, who was a rather tall, muscular cove and looked a bit Charlie Bronsonish, suggested to the two intruders that, if they wanted to keep their new gear in good shape then perhaps they should look for another spot to wet a line.

Dad used to fish the Tweed and surrounding coast, basicaly 24 / 7 to help help keep the deemons of his wartime experiences away, plus  to keep / feed us ..
If a pack of clowns tried to fish all over him, He would make out he was baiting up / rig one of his special razor sharp home made Jag hooks, On the walk to cast out again  and cut the clowns gear off, in such a way they never knew that he did it .. before moving on ..
He was taught by a South Sea Islander to fish from a very early age and became a master craftsman  fisherman early in the 80 years he fished ..

That’s the bit that I don’t get.
One or two taken from the ocean in front of your camp and thrown straight onto the pan are edible, but frozen taylor.....

No unfortunitely . :'( :'( .   When dad downsized to a pop top campervan he gave his big homemade indian cane surf rods  away .. Dad wasnt the materialistic keepsake type, They were a tool that he used for his craft and reckoned he could make them up again if ever he needed too .
Unfortunitely time marched on and times changed to composites in the fishing world  and Indian cane stocks were dumped and burnt in  this country ...
I dearly wanted to build a couple of rods with him again as keepsakes and tried everyone / everything I could up until he died ..
Even tried the big name socalled fishing champions and fishing show stars for years to find some stockists of proper  Indian cane, No surprise they wernt interested in helping  .. Sadly not to be .
Though  I still look and ask on regular occasions if anyone knows of any stock from time to time .. I reckon I'd struggle pretty much the same way I did as a teenager trying to work a 17 foot cane rod  effectively  .. The old man used to swung those rods like they were a two foot twig .

Try this mob. Got the info from a mate of mine who is a professional rod maker. He also told me to stress to you how important the treatment and prep of the cane is.

Good Luck.
