What's the bet the Qld borders open before the AFL Grandfinal?

Problem for Anna, is she has an election the following weekend, so she will need to make a big decision, let footy fans over the border or appear to stand strong and keep the gates shut.
On thing for certain is there will be no Covid19 cases in the week after the footy GF, or what I mean is there will be no reported cases.

Reckon she will open the borders, get everyone to come in and spend big in her City and as you say no reported cases until after the election
Cheers

There are only 30,000 fans allowed.  Qlanders will make up the huge percentage. What the f this has to do with reporting of corna cases , as stated by some , is beyond me.  As has already been stated...it all depends on how the states virus numbers are travelling. Things are good in Qld and hopefully will stay that way.  A positive news story and the knockers are already spruiking garbage.

Only positive for QLD certainly not for Victorians where the game has been held forever . Game will return to the Gee. They have a contract in place for yonks  so it will go back there as it should.

Iam sure there is plenty of politics being played out in this decision .
Here for a good time, not a long time!

If the borders were not shut there is a bloody good chance that the AFL (and any other group sport) would not be playing in Qld or anywhere else at present.   We have been extremely lucky that Qld and a few other states are operating a lot better than Vic or NSW.   Any grand final that can be played by a particular sport will be welcomed by its followers. This years venue at the GABBA will be unique and being a night game as well, will be special.  Millions will still watch it.

So the AFL have flown 400? Odd officials + families to the Cane Toad state.
Bypassing Shite that everyone else has to.

its not really amazing what money will do.

Time for the Demons to merge with anyone.... they are one of those teams that never have and never will be.

SMF did it.
Not that the Swans have had a good season.

Maybe North QLD?

NRL are functioning ok with 12 teams in its competition operating and playing in the NSW and ACT COVID hotspots. The Queensland contingent would probably be happy if the season was cancelled.
I think the below opinion piece news article written by a Labor political advisor sums things up.

1st off I don't follow Aussie rules football. Now, somewhere around the forums someone commented that part of the covid restrictions was if any breaches occurred the season would be shut down. It also mentioned that 3 breaches had happened and the season still goes on. Now let's make it 4 with the Richmond kebab eaters. They got 10 weeks and Richmond got $100,000. The season still goes on.

the Shit part is that some innocent person or 2 back at home base loses their job next year as the 100k comes out of that payroll  - the players go on their merry way.
How about the players have to dish up $$$ to pay that persons pay for a year.

They will be banned for rest of season and into next yer (10 matches) ...as has happened to others who have been stupid enough to break the rules.  $37,500 fine each and sent back home.   Harsh but justifiable penalty for being knobheads.

Told ya they wouldnt pay it

Quote
The manager of Sydney Stack says the 21-year-old won't be paying the fine levied on the Tigers, after the talented defender apologised for his actions after he and his teammate Callum Coleman-Jones breached the AFL's COVID-19 protocols when they were involved in a fight outside a Gold Coast strip club early Friday morning.

The Tigers said the duo would be responsible for paying $75,000 of the $100,000 fine in a statement on Friday, but Paul Peos, who manages Stack, said the rules were clear when the players agreed to a pay cut to continue the season and that a fine of $37,500 would exceed 50 per cent of his client's annual income after tax in 2020.
