FOR SALE: 1961 "Hot Rodded" Austin Lancer. (now with photos)
« on: August 16, 2019, 06:11:02 AM »
This car will be ready to go mid next week. (READY NOW. 01/09/19)
Photos will be done on Tuesday after the white walls are done.

OK, its a 1961, Austin Lancer, Series 2 Deluxe..... heavily modified.

ENGINE: Is a CA20 Nissan, 2 litre, single overhead cam, duel spark plug unit. (yep, 8 spark plugs in a 4 cyl)
It produces in excess of twice the HP the original 1500 engine did.

GEARBOX: Is a matching Nissan 5 speed manual box, full synchro of course with 5th being overdrive.
It is fitted with heavy duty clutch which is power boosted for ease of operation. (Cool huh)

DIFF: Is a MK 1 Ford Cortina unit, same ratio as the original diff and uses a custom 2 piece tail-shaft.

BRAKES: Power boosted Fiat 124 discs brakes on the front and boosted Cortina drum brakes on the rear.

SUSPENSION: It now has telescopic shocks all around (original are lever action)
It is fitted with anti sway bars front and rear.
It also has fully adjustable radius rods.

BODY: The car itself, has only covered 91,000 miles and is in very good condition.
We only had to repair some very minor rust in the rear beaver panel and I have photos of the new metal being welded in
It was originally owned by UK Motors up to 1968 and driven by a salesperson. (we believe as part of his wage package)
The next owner (only private owner) bought it in April 1968 and had it until May 2019.
I bought the car in a semi dismantled condition and set about painting the car and getting it back together.
It has new windscreen rubbers front and back, new boot rubber and brand new outer door rubbers.
The car was repainted in the same colours as the previous owner used when he painted it in the mid 70's.
The blue was custom mixed to match the interior, the roof is done in Mercedes Benz artic white when we repainted it.
It then has a discrete baby blue pinstripe down the flanks.
It does have some mild custom features, pumped rear guards, sunken electric aerial, modified grille opening.
Mark 1 Cortina rear bumper bar...... shortened.
           XA Falcon style external mirrors.
           Datsun 120Y external sunvisor

INTERIOR: It has Datsun 200B high back bucket seats, seat belts front and rear and presents pretty nice.
It has full instrumentation, sports steering wheel and a host of little extras.
There is a radio/cassette unit with electric aerial, hazard lights, led interior lights and led boot light

I have a lot of stuff to go with the car, including the sales invoice dated 17th April 1968.
Original workshop manual, all sorts of cool things that are often sort, but rarely available.
The previous owner is more than happy to talk to the next owner about the car.

It comes with registration to Feb 2020, a current roadworthy and all modifications are Qld. Transport approved and "blue plated"
It has personalized number plates KQQ161 to read KQQL 61..... well, it does to me.
My understanding, this car would be P-Plate friendly.
Its a terrific entry level classic car.
Also perfect for a Rockabilly Cruiser for Greazefest and the like.
I've gone through this little rocket from front to back, its a cool little jigger.
I've done maybe 130klm (01/09) in it now...... it drives pretty damn good.

PRICE: $12,500 Neg.

Still as crook as a mongrel dog.

I did whip the wheels off yesterday and got all 4 wheels balanced.
Still way to sick and rooted to drive to Brisbane for the white walls.

Catch 22, tyres look dirty, so can't take the pics.
Tyres need to be free of any silicone prior to the white walls.
I want to give the tyres a quick once over and do the pics anyway.
Once I do that, the white walls won't last.
White walls will make the car.... IE: Grandpa spec

interior was turd to get pics of.

At idle, it has 45 psi of oil.
Driving or stationery, the temp runs on 160. The thermo fan only cuts in when idling.
The oil temp runs at 180 stationery, 170 on the fly, as it has a oil cooler under the front.

The little suitcase in the boot has the jack, wheel brace and crap in it and yes, it is bolted down.
