Can you advise what the warm air outlet diameter is as I have another conceivable use for the heater source, other than the camper?

But the charging current is surely going to be a lot less than a fan heater draws!

What would concern me more is the statement in the Maintenance section of the manual that it must be serviced every 12 months and service must be carried out by the manufacturer or an authorised agent. I wonder how much is that going to cost each year?

No, you can unscrew them and no gas leakage, the little squat units about 75mm high with a dimple in the top actually get pierced, so you can't take off until emptor you lose your gas

Thanks for posting up the video, all the pictures made the size look awkward with the regulator sticking out, now I can see that it folds up OK.

I'm definitely keen on one of these units, will order it before our next cold camp.

Shouldn't be to hard to adapt to run on a 12v power supply. Depending on battery voltage, should be able to do it with a switch and a connection or a buck converter, switch and connection if the battery isn't 12v

The built in battery is a 12v battery.   It isnt designed to be upgraded, so would require DIY modification - and also is not recommended by manufacturer. 

BTW - The unit is designed currently that it has to be recharged, before it can operate again.  It cannot operate & charge at the same time.

Yes, it is disappointing that it doesn't have a 12v power charging option.  However, its consumption is very small so using a small inverter such as https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/dometic-waeco-150w-can-size-inverter will mean you can charge your unit from 12v.  You only suffer some small losses converting 12v to 240v so this is fine in my opinion.

The diameter is approx 84mm.  Keen to hear what you're thinking of using it for.

No - you couldn't adapt it to run from Butane cartridges, but in all honesty - you wouldnt want to. 

Butane cartridges, because of the butane mixture ratios - performs badly in the cold - it often freezes totally over.  Just when you need it the most!

If you're unhappy using the larger disposable green bottles.  Then grabbing the hose that TryAgain suggested, is the way to go.  This will let you use any 9kg, or 4.5kg POL BBQ cylinder that you choose.  The cheapest way to access portable LPG.

Kind of - because this heater is dealing with enclosed spaces, and carbon monoxide.  The reason for the inspection is to confirm that its working as designed and not not pumping carbon monoxide into the enclosed space. 

Obviously, if it was to do this - and reach critical levels - this wouldnt be good.  People can die.

BTW - 12v electric heaters are horrendously power hungry.  This unit is by far better, because its only powering a small 12v fan, and using LPG to generate the heat.  You would need an incredible battery bank to run a 12v heater fan such as this one that we sell:  https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/marity-ceramic-12v-heater-fan

It is really only good to operate when your engine alternator is running as it draws 12.5 amps.

It seems to me that the times that would be nice to have heating are just before you go to bed, and when you get up in the morning before getting dressed. Oh and a few times in the middle of the night to have a pee.

A remote control to start it for 10 mins then stop it once snugly back in the sleeping bag would make it much more useful.

Great idea, and I agree would be very nice to be able to shut it down once toasty in bed and not have to get out.   Sadly, for this one you will have to.

There is no remote and I cant imagine how you could simply add one on with the setup it has currently.   This is a great suggestion for the next model.

SIL has a 6 X 6M "shed" which she runs pottery classes in periodically and also it acts as her pottery workshop. She currently has a couple of oil heaters she uses for warmth and we were discussing whether one of these would be suitable with a wall adapter made up to channel the warm air inside.

I've gone off to find the answer - hope to come back to you soon Brindi.  I dont imagine it's much more than a quick clean of internals and visual inspection of components to ensure they've not been damaged.   But will confirm that for you too.

Sorry for the late reply on this one.

I've been able to confirm from Gasmate that the annual service entails cleaning & inspection. The estimated service cost for this would be $60 should you decide to do it.
