Out here in Woop Woop, when we get a parcel delivery, the chick pulls up in the driveway and toots the horn.

I just walk out, grab it and all is good in the world. She's always happy, very easy to deal with.

The guy who does the run a few klm's over however, drives down the wrong side of the road, dives and darts and is all over the place like a mad woman's Shit.

He reminds me of the postie guy in one of them Chevy Chase movies.

As the crow flies we are about 1.5Km from the post office, we don't get deliveries as we are 5.1km from the PO by road. As such we have a PO Box in town physically at the PO of course. We check the PO Box twice per week and probably every third check we have mail for other persons in our PO Box (noting not necessarily other PO Boxes, just plain addressed also, but mostly PO Boxes). Now this is not the other PO Boxes left/right/upper/lower these are for all over the shop.

If we notice before we leave we pop it back into the letter box in front of the PO, but often the Mrs just grabs it and brings it home so, next time, its popped in the post box.
Just one of the PITA!

We have a Post Office Box @ the Coominya post office.
They shoot me an email by 9am if we have mail so I can go  get it.

With the protestors gluing themselves to the road, I say, pop a barrier around them, then inform them the folks to "unglue them" will be here soon.

Last night was pretty cold and this morning, a tad colder.

Just wait until all 7 have Shit and pissed themselves and are screaming hungry, then unglue them and send them on their way.

Of course, whoever stands guard, should be dressed very warmly, have some food and hot coffee.

Plonk a nice hot coffee down in front of 'em..... be pretty funny i reckon.

I think it unfair to stand by these people glued to the road eating and drinking, for the welfare of these protestors they need to give them something to eat and drink...........................having it laced with laxatives  >:D

A few years ago when we were going through an expansion phase we had a number of protestor events where they would access our work sites and tie themselves off to machines (ie: onto cranes, under working dozer blades, onto excavators etc etc). We actually asked the regulator what would be the outcome if we left them there in the sun or cold and they injured themselves (think dehydration, heat / cold stress etc) what would be the repercussions on us. Basically told that we were responsible for all people on our sites including visitors even if they were there illegally.

I am thinking that this situation would be the same and the council would have to do whatever it could to ensure that they don't hurt themselves.

The one interesting thing that we quickly noted was that it was never one of the organisers (activist group personnel) rather they would recruit cannon fodder and are hoping for something to go wrong so that they could get further political mileage out of the big bad mining companies. Some of the things they were doing had absolutely no regard for their own safety ie: hanging off the side of a feed bin (ropes over a metal edge), jump in front of a working dozer and chain themselves onto it (including under blades - no knowledge of blade creep), underneath trucks, up in trees and the list goes on and on. The more elaborate they got the higher level of response that was required by the authorities included police rescue and at one time we even had police rapid response teams stationed in the area. Too bad if we had people in the state that needed rescuing or hostage situations somewhere as all of their teams were hanging around north west NSW.

Best thing we ever did was engage our own security personnel (not your usual access control guys) who had dogs. The greenies didn't like the dogs - go figure  ;D

Nah, Jeepers, not fair to leave them lying there thirsty, especially on a cold night.

Many years ago a protester chained themselves to the railing of the bank where I worked as they were being evicted from their business... TV cameras arrived etc etc but he was left there. At 10 o'clock a couple of blokes from the pub opposite lobbed over with a schooner & words of support, 1/2 hour later another schooey & more "good onya mate".... all feel apart when the call of nature took over!!!! piss funny.

Just watched an interview pre the World Cup match toight, with the Pommie skipper [an Irishman], who said it was OK to boo Warner and Smith.
Then they interview the fast bowler [a West Indian] and their best player [a Kiwi] plus 2 c%$@*s who were born in Sth Africa.
All those people in England and they can't find 11 to play cricket???
Now Monty  Panasaar has released his pre Ashes book where he admits the used lollies and sunscreen to dolly up
the ball for Anderson.
Why didn't the media bring that up!!!

My guess is that all the teams push the rules a little but do it with a bit of stealth, only one team was dumb enough to pull out a bright yellow piece of 80 grit.

Mob I worked for had us do e-learns heaps of times..  Only in work time...If your doing it outside of work hours your entitled to overtime /time in lieu.  ...The bullShit about termination is just that...bullShit.  Tell em your happy to do the course...just set aside 30mins/1 hour and I,ll do it straight away.  Salaried employees may be a different matter, depending on contract.   It,s widely known that many Australians are treated as fools and do too much overpaid overtime for the companies profit.

Just received my latest rates notice. Apparently my land value has gone up by 10% in 1 year and therefore so has the major component of my rates. I call BS. Brisbane houses prices haven’t dropped like other states but they haven’t gone up either.

Has anyone has any luck challenging the Valuer General’s land value assessment?
