Made me look at it again, and laugh as does look like it could have come from Cars.

They have softened up the Defender.... This will upset the Land Rover die hards......

That and the price. 40k for a Defender!

I've been hanging on waiting to buy one, but not at that price. 40k base tips it into the big league for annual road tax too.

That's why if I end up back in the UK, I'm bringing my HJ45 - it's a 1978, so MOT and Road Tax exempt!

actually don't mind the new 110 defender...

either way, landrover were on a hiding to nothing.  redesigning an iconic vehicle is never an easy process...

someone is always going to be unhappy.

i was watching a release video and the commentator mentioned something that i think sums things up with a redesign such as this:

"the new defender must be respectful of it's past, but not harnessed by it"

yes, the looks can be divisive, but the proof will be how it performs off-road.

Hope this ends well...

A search is underway in the Baw Baw National Park area for a man and a woman who failed to return from a weekend camping trip.

Concerned friends and family of Caleb Forbes and Shannon Lowden have already spent a day searching for the pair after they set off for a camping trip on Friday and didn't return.

The pair, aged 22 and 21, told family they were planning to camp in the area around the Thomson Dam, near Walhalla, in West Gippsland.

However, by Tuesday they had still not returned.

Still no sign of them according to the news...

They were one of the only youtube channels that I was subscribed to, there video's are great, they made me want to "overland" overseas (even though it's not happening anytime soon) and must admit I was a bit concerned for them when they disappeared online a few months back.

Any news of it has well & truly been buried by bushfires!

Anybody tried it out yet, to see how it compares to the old road ???

Amazing trip but how stupid do you need to be to fly a drone around without the proper paperwork in a place like Iran, particularly with the current state or relations between the UK and Iran.

Never discount the thought process of a social media “influencer” - sometimes I wonder if some of them think the laws of the real world don’t apply to them!

Unfortunately, they probably just "assumed" that they could fly it and probably didn't even bother to check if they needed a permit

I think you are correct. I also think a more appropriate term for social media "influencer" is, quite simply, "narcissist".

I mean, I enjoy looking at pictures of far off places that I am unlikely ever to visit, but does every pic really need to include a the face of a pouting prat with his/her arm outstretched towards the camera?

Not really applicable to the situation here though, they aren't "influencers" just travel vloggers and after watching their video's I'd say they were pretty down to earth with a reasonably level head.
Obviously they shouldn't have flown a drone there, (interestingly it is now on the smart traveller website but wasn't a few months ago when they were caught) but I'll wait for more details to hear about what actually happened before deciding if it was more bad luck, or bad management/timing.

I imagine bad timing has a lot to do with their arrest. Even entering Iran in the current political climate was naive and probably pushing their luck. Let's hope that they are released soon. The story is all over the UK press today.

Perhaps it will teach them that some countries carry the stigma of a bad wrap for a reason.

Ohh dear https://www.9news.com.au/national/news-nsw-fake-sydney-darecare-defrauded-millions-police/6f06cdbc-00b1-4095-afaf-41e1dee4b7f4      Nice aussies  doing it for themselves ... at our expense . Dumb government departments.. Bet they had insiders there too .

Up to 40 people arrested for facilitating an alleged $4 million family day-care fraud syndicate ran a criminal operation more disciplined than that of an outlaw motorcycle gang, investigators said on Thursday.

"Every part of it from the bottom to the top was a falsehood," said Acting Assistant Commissioner of State Crime Command Stuart Smith.

"There is no childcare happening in relation to this syndicated fraud."

Acting Assistant Commissioner Smith said the childcare scheme was "just a commodity" to the syndicate, the structure of which was "more disciplined than ... outlaw motorcycle gangs."

Until I read the link, I thought this was in Iran too.

And someone said tonight it is only 1 of an estimated 50 odd syndicates doing things like this.

The gradient is much lower than the old road.
