When seconds count, Police are minutes away.

Fact: A civilian pistol owner has to spend more time more often at a range practising just to keep their license,  than a Police officer needs to to maintain their qualification to carry a gun with them while on duty.

(I did not post that to cause an argument, but to make people aware of some facts)

I would like to see a deal proposed that the Democrats agree to fund Trump's wall and the Republicans agree to Australian/New Zealand style gun laws. Would be interesting to see what both sides of politics valued more.

What do people believe would be the result if gun laws in USA were tightened to no autos, no military type weapons etc...

I would believe that there would be mass murders in the street if the rednecks were told to hand in their automatic weapons they need to keep the rabbit population down.

This is why I think a good tactic for gun control proponents in the US should just focus on making registration of firearms a requirement (with a fee) as the first port of call. If you managed to get a $200 yearly registration fee per gun, there would then be a lot of people looking to offload some guns, used prices would tank so people would then stop buying so many new ones which would limit both the number of weapons coming into the market, as well as the profits of the manufacturers and their ability to buy influence. Then, if you wanted to do an Australian style buyback a few years down the track it would be far cheaper, and you aren't impinging on people "right" to own arms, you are just regulating the market.

Yep read that too and a lot of other reports on how its worked / not worked etc .. Still falls a hell of a lot shorter than a lot of places in America in overall crime  stats and  Australian cities  included though .
It might work for them for what ever reason good or bad, Though I'll temper that with, Even having been in / around highly trained people with  military weapons, in all sorts of places ....    I wouldnt be comfortable or want my family having to deal with Joe Blogs muppets running around the streets armed either .
I’m glad to read this mate. I was getting a bit concerned that some of your posts were suggesting that high powered weapons in the hands of citizens was good.

I was watching one of the machine gun clips you posted a little while back and was thinking it was pretty surprising that someone like yourself, that knows better then most of us the carnage that weapons can cause, would be promoting Joe Blogs muppet to be running around the streets armed to the hilt.

Glad to see I was wrong. ;)

Still on yesterday’s incident in Sydney but on a different tangent....

Why is it the media finds it necessary to report that the young woman killed was a sex worker? WTF does that have to do with anything? Not only does her family have to deal with the fact she was killed, they now have to deal with the fact that everyone now knows she was a sex worker?

Quick dump of throttle in reverse..... guy goes arse over tit in front of the
merc.
Driver panics, can't see the offender, so grabs drive and goes forward.... say 20 feet should do it.

Officer... officer, I panicked.... I was terrified..... I didn't mean to run over him.

If the turd jumped on my car, he'd quickly find out what 4,872lbs of Cadillac feels like going over him.
Half his internal organs would be hanging out his arsehole.

And the smell of cooking as the cat converter exchanges heat into the individual trapped under the car.
That'll learn 'em.
I know there's no cats in that Caddie.  So just the exhaust then, and can you get it hot enough Jeepers?

We all know the answer....Sensationalism sells!    Nothing wrong with her being a sex worker. She was probably more morally right than many politicians!  Her working status should not have been used to sensationalize the story. Trying to debase some poor innocent victim of a stabbing just makes the reporter morally reprehensible.  Too much bullShit and unnecessary facts reported in the name of "news"..24 years old and by the sounds of it, someone who loved life...just a bloody shame. R.I.P.

Not about labeling people for me .. Just reality ..
If people followed the written warning guide information they are given and took  basic care and attention there is no need for them to be coralled into a fenced area ..
Can see the lure of a fenced " safe " area for some ..  dingo's are smart, some people are stupid  and mother nature will play its part ... They will get in at some stage, how good is their  "  safe  "  area then, people will be even less aware of whats going on around them ..

We haven't done Fraser yet as they say you should keep children within arm's reach at all times, with 4 kids aged 4-11 that doesn't sound too relaxing to me, there is the option of camping in the existing fenced areas but they are all back off the beach AFAIK, If I am going to somewhere like Fraser, I want to be on the beach not tucked up in something akin to a caravan park away from the main attraction. Fenced areas along the beach could work well for people like us.
